A Tour of Bran (DRACULA) Castle / Transylvania / Romania [ 4K ]

I visited this castle about twenty five years ago and was surprised by the fairly pleasant atmosphere within its walls. It didn't feel sinister in any way. I believe that the last full time resident was a member of the Romanian royalty in the 1930s. It's unlikely that Dracula ever occupied the castle. His main refuge was at Poenari, a mountain top citadel about thirty miles or so from Castle Bran and it's a much more brutal structure. It's certainly worth a visit.

@@Geekyguy92 Stoker's character isn't real but there was certainly a historical character Dracula who was a 14th century Walachian prince who fought against the Ottomans. A five minute search on the internet will give you plenty of information on him.

on était en colonie a 5 km de ce château .un soir 3 jours avant de rentrer en France on et allez la bas avec 5 potes .on a attendu que tout le monde dorme .on a fait le mur .et on aet allez la bas on avait 15 ans .arriver sur place tout était fermer bien sur il y avait personne. On a réussi a rentrer par une cave .je peut te dire qu ont avait tous les grelots on et restez une bonne heure mais trop louche le truc on et repartit et en repassant dans la cave j ai vu un bout de ferraille qui sortait de terre alors j ai tirer dessus .et il et sorti de terre et s était un bougeoir en forme aigle il y en avais 2 il y avais encore un bout de bougie. j ai pris les 2 très ancien quand je les et fait estimer 40 ans après aujourdhui j ai 56 ans je les es toujours et le vieux bout de bougie et toujours dedans

Beautiful palace. I write a vampire series and Vlad is in it (briefly). I always love seeing well-done videos of the mythology of Vlad Dracula that Stokes did. In the Romanian people, he is a hero, not a vampire. In the time tunnel, the video shot of the portrait that moves is very well done.

imagine you live in a crappy little town in a country that has barely recovered from communist dictatorship, basically stuck in the 90s and all you have to show is this castle with a less than loose, almost nonexistant connection to vlad tepes and a bit of bram stoker....of course they gotta milk the living sh*t out of this. and yes, its quite atrocious. but if you dont pay attention to that attitude, its a remarkably well preserved medieval structure.

It’s so much easier to visit the Bran Castle with a car. I went there via public transport (the bus) Aaah, I miss those times. Look at the castle. Not a lot of tourists. 😌

Went there in 1994 on the bus from Brasov-nobody had a clue where Draculas castle ,or who he was either, so they sent me to Bran,there was a village shop and not much else.Two years later you could buy a tshirt at the same shop so they had obviously caught on quickly-must be a real tourist trap now.

A very Castle of Drácula is a Castle of poenari to some 15 milles curtea de arges in the top of the mountain; Bran Castle is principally for a tourists for a " good" state of conservation ; and you have yo climb 1.482 steps to reach it

Big mistake! I'm going to disappoint a lot of people, but if it's about Dracula, the character invented by Bram Stoker could also place his castle on the planet Mars. If it's about Vlad Țepeș (the Impaler), nicknamed Dracula, his castle was in Poienari, not in Bran!
