Thanks for the beautiful song. It reminds me of those old good days when I was there in 1968~1971. I wonder if I can hear from some of my old good friends who worked at Hq. ROKA in Vietnam, 606 Tran Hung Dao, Saigon. One is Sgt. Chin and the other is Mrs. Phuoc. This is the only information I have about my friends. I would like hear from them.

"Saigon Dep Lam, Sai Gon OI" (Oh Saigon, You're So Beautiful) was a propaganda song during the Vietnam War against the northern Vietnamese communists. By the fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975, the capitol became Ho Chi Minh City and the song has been forbidden for airplay anywhere; you can be arrested and prosecuted if you're caught singing this tune... Even waving around the old South Vietnamese flag can earn you serious consequences over there!!!

@toiacvietcong The communist will not be overthrown in a long time. Most communist were from the north and now have migrated all over the map. If you go to any city in central and south vietnam you will hear many people speaking with northern accent. Also China will support the Vietnam Communist Regime (Thats how the north won against the south in the first place...with China's support but you dont hear much of that being spoken).

if you noticed most songs are sung in north dialect. Of course their are songs that just have to be sung in southern dialect like "em di tren co non" or some other song that must be sung in central dialect like "mua tren pho hue." besides southern ppl are too dumb to write their own song. most songs that were written in the south were composed by northerners. i prolly know more vietnamese then you do anyways, but your opinion is as fair as mine thank you.

@toiacvietcong it is very difficult to overthrow now because anyone that speaks bad of it is sent to prison. the majority of the people in Vietnam are also very poor. Meaning they work one day so they can provide one days meal... the government do the economy like this purposely so that the people do not have the financial resources to think of overthrowing the government. The people can only focus on one thing, and that is survival. Even if a war start, China will help the VC. USA no power now.
