I was in the Navy and served briefly with Assault Craft Unit 2 at Little Creek back in the 60s. We called LCUs “U Boats”. I had no idea the Army also operated them.

I was a cook in the Navy, stationed on the USS Ogden LPD-5 out of San Diego, CA. Is it possible for me to be a cook on an Army vessel? That would be cool!

The MOS is 88K. Take a read. It's really a fun MOS. There are only a few stations around the world so you won't move around much, but you will see a lot of places. www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/browse-career-and-job-categories/transportation-and-aviation/watercraft-operator.html

david jastrzenski I totally agree with that question and raise the same one myself. What’s the point of having 6 different branches when all of them do the same stuff?

Because the Navy will not supply the Army when they need it and where they need it. Kind of like the Air Force with the A-10 Warthog. The army needs close air support and the A-10 is probably the best aircraft ever to serve this purpose. The Air Force has tried for years (decades) to get rid of these aircraft and it has taken action by Congress to prevent them from doing so.
