I love watching the family dynamics of you three. You are all so cute and I mean this as a big compliment. You are fun to watch. I had to laugh at the joy you took in watching the sunset. It’s really neat to see your growth as you settle into boating life. I mean look at Davis taking charge of radio communications with other boats. Great job everyone!👏

Thank you! Our family is far from perfect but I wouldn’t change this. He’s our 4th and most spirited child so we are older and have less energy than with our older 3. It’s a HUGE learning curve and expectations can ruin it! We are trying our best and all becoming accustomed to life on the water. Thanks for watching!

When you docked in Jamaica I did a little happy dance with you. I know for those who have been sailing their whole life, docking is just another thing, but for those of us who start late, it is a BIG DEAL 🎉. Congratulations on another successful passage and a perfect docking!

Thank you SO much! I actually moved the boat later that day into a slip (you’ll see that next week) & I was super proud of that. I showed the stress of it to but still a proud moment! Thank you for your words & time watching!

Nice 4 day sail, and even with large waves, the glass on table stays upright. Para sail looks great and flies better than spinnaker. Looks like the Errol Flynn Marina in the last segment.

You are correct! We spent 9 days there and had a great time. Unfortunately, anchoring was almost as expensive as the marina.

I am so glad I am back to watching your videos. I had been quite sick with Long Covid the last seven weeks and have not watched much KZbin. I am so glad to see the progress you guys are making and am catching-up on episodes that I missed... Davis seems to be adjusting well to boat life and becoming quite the young sailor! It feels like you just left Florida, but to hear you are likely in Panama by now is just so exciting! So glad to see the progress you are all making and the adventures look like so much fun! So very cool and very excited to see more of your journey... ⛵

Sorry to hear that! We hope you are feeling much better! It can be quite the long haul so please take good care of yourself. We are making good progress towards our goals. Everyone is adjusting. We all have our days but for the most part it is fairly positive. You can watch us transit tomorrow starting the first lock around 0500 and finishing at Mira Flores around 2:30ish. Go to the multimedia Panama Canal to watch the live webcams. Our linehandlers just arrived. 😆

My husband and I are learning with you-you’re about a year ahead of our boat life journey. It’s great to “normalize novice”! 2 items of feedback: Have you noticed the spot on your camera lens? It makes me think there’s something on my TV every time! Also, if you are circumnavigating, do you have plans to have your mast professionally examined before the trip? We watched experienced sailors on Parlay Revival, who did so and had to replace theirs completely before crossing. Then we watched Sailing Aquarius, who didn’t have theirs examined and ended up losing their mast and almost their boat. It makes me nervous for you! Please keep sharing with us-we really do appreciate your show for so many reasons!!!
@SailingParadiseFalls9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the info! Our videos are about 3-6wks behind. I did finally notice the spot and getting in the routine of regular cleaning prior to shooting. It’s seriously a struggle with all the salt spray. I try to show all the emotions bc I want to look back and remember these moments. It’s not all sunshine! We had the mast and all rigging professionally inspected in BVI prior to sailing to Florida and have another lined up prior to crossing to French Polynesia. Sailing Aquarius broke my heart!

Have you considered unschooling? Sailing the world seems like the perfect environment for unschooling. Like a field trip everyday! Learning everything from weather to marine biology, languages, history, geography through immersion, reading books for joy during passage who needs a curriculum.

She is big... the parasail spinaker... Thise are nice but, be aware. We have seen many torn up because its easy to forget that when the wind picks up the forces on the lines are enormous. You really need to stay alert or you end up with a broken line, the sail then collapses and is banging in the wind to be shattered in pieces within seconds. So if you know the max wind it can handle take some extra margine. eg it can handle aws 10kn, take it down at 8. because its such a waste. Just in the last month or soe we have seen several spinakkers g5 and whats the are all called shattered on you tube. we Have seen many more in real life. a little squal nearing?... take it down its too beautiful to waste. Happy sailing.
@SailingParadiseFalls9 ай бұрын
Yes, unfortunately you’ll see in 2 wks that our halyard chaffed through in 3hrs bc Just Cats told us that we didn’t need the turning block that everyone else had installed. We should have listen to our gut. 12 small tears being repaired as we speak🤣
@waltervanderboor9 ай бұрын
Do a simple check, lines should never shafe, which means they need to be in the centre of all blocks and approach the winches from slightly below, if there's a rubbing place, look for a way to minimise that, a turning block does not necissarily mke things better. But do recognise shafe , check for it because a flaping sail damages fast. even an incorrectly set sail will get damage over time because the fibres are stretches, and then when you have other things like bad weather on your hands, then things break. And you only need 3 things together to get a disasterAs for the lines use cruising lines not dyneema if the loads allow, bacuse their mantle protects the inner core and they last much longer. You're nota racersso no benefit in most cases to putchase expensive dyneema in case yu sooend money, buy the best blocks as they are more smooth and the better finish helps preserve the lines. I hope I make sense. Hafe fun, happy sailing! @@SailingParadiseFalls
