Sailboat in the City - Sailing Chesapeake Bay, Norfolk to Deltaville (Ep.189)

Before we talk about city life on a sailboat, Let's back up and see the south side of Norfolk. It's a few hours from Great Bridge VA to Norfolk. And it's the most industrial section of the ICW this side of Houston. Full of US Navy shipyards and tugboats. And then you're greeted by the beauty of Portsmouth and Norfolk.
We find our home at a lovely little anchorage near Hospital Point. With easy access to Portsmouth, happy hours, laundry, and affordable dining at the nearby marina. And a quick dinghy ride from the anchorage, we're in the heart of downtown Norfolk one of our favorite cities.

Seems like a great place to visit! How long would you typically stay there?

It's great. With Norfolk on one side and Portsmouth on the other. You have big city + quaint town. There's a great Mexican food in Portsmouth plus a good coffee shop and biergarten. So a week is easy here. I've stayed here a month back in November 2021.

Nice sail. Thanks for taking me along. I have an S2 9.2 with a Yanmar 2gm. It's been overheating. I'm going to check the impeller, but what else should I check? You don't have to answer if you're busy, so I'm just throwing it out there. I'm on Lake Palestine in Texas and only been sailing for about 4 years. And I love yalls channel.

Thx for watching! Check for good water flow, the intake is clear of debris or growth, the water strainer is clean...you can undo each section/junction of raw water hose, and it should gush out. Impeller, first tho. Always check the easiest solution first, lol believe me 😉
