I have to say Sams channel is the most realistic of all the sailing channels, no big buck sponsors, just an average Joe sailing for the pure joy of sailing.

I remember when I first ran aground. Something similar, I decided to try docking by sail only, no engine, I know a lot of people have done it for centuries but... new to man. Luckily it was a sand bar and I was able to get off. Lesson learned: Always pay attention to your depth, even when doing 5 other things 😭

I was looking at purchasing a Cape Dory 25 in your area recently. I ended up getting a great deal on 1984 Catalina 25 that was ready to sale for $1000. Using the Catalina 25 to learn on a Lake until I am ready to purchase a larger boat for some costal cruising. Learning a lot from your Channel.

Nice cape dory 25, never saw a motor arrangement with an outboard in a compartment like that---but would make repairs easier/portable/less exp too. Good to see you work on those projects. Fyi you could prob unfog the orig port hole glass with some headlight cleaner.

Sam, You seem to find a solution for each problem. It may not be OEM style but you make it work for you. That aside for a moment, since you mounted your engine controls perpendicular to the line of travel it would seem that pushing the control lever to the right would be forward (accelerate) and to the left reverse (accelerate). So what all do you intend to modify or fix on your boat? Btw do you intend to install some heat since you are crossing the Atlantic ocean? Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos very much. Do you intend to sail back to America or sell your boat and then fly back? 🤗⛵

Does your friends outboard sit in the water all the time? How do you tilt it up with it being in that little outboard well?
@jims53383 жыл бұрын
It looked a lot like the well in my '70 Columbia 28. It can stay down if you're going out again soon, or you can just pull it up and hook it over a 2x4 if you don't want it sitting in the water for a long time. Obviously you can stow it below, as well, but that gets hard on the back!
