What a life!!!!!!! I love my life but am a little jealous of yours! It’s our dream to live on a catamaran and sail the world one day. You 2 are an inspiration and I can’t wait to learn more about your journey so we can do the same someday. Thank you for sharing!

Great video again guys thanks. Lift your dingy it will speed you up. In northern Europe towing a dingy is like sailing with your fenders out. In the Med they do it like you do and tow everything.
@BreakingWavesSailing3 жыл бұрын
Yah we are lazy haha. actually on this day we knew we wanted the dinghy in the water to get some shots of the boat heading up the inlet (when it was quite calm abs we motored - precious episode). The wind flipped like a switch and suddenly we were in a windy race! Next time we’ll be better prepared haha. We’ve recently upgraded our dinghy to a fairly big one, so davits may be in order soon (dinghy in deck when offshore of course).

Another great episode. Can you see the jib telltales from the helm position cos that will probably give you a bit more info... I'm mainly a dingy sailor with only a little time on big boats but it looked like you just needed to bear away a bit and perhaps not try to take such an close hauled line. Sometimes the longer way around is quicker :) of course I suspect that the antics of the first mate in front of you may occasionally draw the eye and concentration away from sail trim!! :) PS. the wind will often hit the top of the mast first so you may be able to spot a shift that way... personally I'm rarely quick enough.

You noticed that the wind can seemingly be behind you and in front of you at the same. Love it or not, this is common when sailing the Fjords of BC. Unfortunately advice we locals might offer would sound as woo woo as "Use the Force Luke!" There is an art to it, if you can learn to feel the wind. Does that sound crazy?

Just found you guys recently and have been enjoying your Journey! You've chosen a superb "go anywhere" boat; my father-in-law sold his 1984 Sceptre 41 very recently to a new owner in North Vancouver. It was the only Sceptre 41 sold a s a bare hull and he outfitted it himself to an extremely high standard over several years before launching. I would've bought it in a heartbeat if we were able to sell our current boat.
@BreakingWavesSailing3 жыл бұрын
What was the boat name? I think there’s a few Sceptres in the market right now ;)
@FBGbarge3 жыл бұрын
@@BreakingWavesSailing OOPS! So very sorry...just saw your reply seven months later! The boat's name is "Berceause" which is a type of French lullaby. White hull with burgundy stripe and canvas.

Put the dinghy securely on deck, and you will pickup 0.5 to a full knot, specially closed hauled.

Hugging the coastline while going against the tide should help pick up some speed. I've never sailed but log towing during incoming tide it was best to be out in the middle of the straight for some extra push. Cheers, hope Tofino is being good to you. Merry Xmas.
