Sailing Alonnisos to Skyros

Nice to see this, thanks Dave. My wife & I used to take our Flotilla to Skyros in mid-summer so very familiar, interestingly that was seven yachts. There was always a swell, but generally a beam reach, so a great sail. On one occasion the skipper of one of our fleet went on the foredeck in bare feet, slipped on the wet deck and thrust the toes of one foot on either side of a cleat, resulting in a nasty injury. Over the radio my wife (the hostess) instructed him to bind the toes together tightly, and he reported back it had stopped the flow of blood (but hurt like hell). When we arrived in Linaria my wife took him by Taxi to the town and a Doctor. Shame it was before mobile phone cameras because she said he wiped it with alcohol and stitched the foot with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, 2 inches of ash hanging off & smoke in his eyes :-). It was 39 years ago though...

Really enjoyed this, though the weather could have been a bit kinder it did mean more exhilarating sailing. The harbour master said they don't get flotillas in Linaria any more, we were the first for a while. Glad you enjoyed it.
