Sailing, How to cross the Atlantic, sailing routes, sailing times, sailing trade winds, distances
In today's video, I am going to cover what it takes to sail across the Atlantic ocean. Where to leave from, best times to leave, distances, times, routes, trade winds, and much more. There can be a lot that goes into crossing an ocean but if you plan it properly it's not nearly as difficult as it first appears. Hopefully, today's video will give you a better idea of what you are looking at if this is a dream of yours.

At this point, If I had my needed millions, I think I'd rather get a Nordhqvn with appropriate fuel capacity to cross the Atlantic. Stops in Bermuda and the Azores to top off the diesel and I'm good. I only have a few hundred in my savings account but I'll get there.

Great video! I had two questions. Maybe kinda newbie. Since you can tack into the wind (beating) via a close haul, why can you not go either route when going either direction? I understand that ships of old had to run with the wind and thus follow the appropriate passage. Does a crew (or solo sailor) stop sailing and sleep during the night?
@uberbeast113
@uberbeast113 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about your first question. A yacht with crew will take turns to sleep or take the watch in shifts. A solo sailor should have an AIS among his electronic instruments which will sound an alarm if a vessel gets too close. This way, he can sleep. All the same it is best to wake up and scan the surroundings on a regular basis.

If you're going from say Halifax to the azores (which you show)then you definitely do not want to go in the winter. @@PyeGuySailing and I felt I made the two routes incredibly specific, carribean to Bermuda and to the azores, canaries to cape verde and then to the carribean. I guess I could have been more specific however I honestly felt I was as specific as possible and pointed out two very specific routes that I was referring to. Like Pantyfa, without the violence. You can see how easy it was for new religions to suddenly sweep into countries unrelated to the people who invented new religions. The record of what Christians did to Greece and Egypt is incredible. The destruction was like nothing even the Romans were capable of.
