These pp consultant videos are very instructional and nicely presented. As one viewer commented the roach is not correctly defined here. It really makes no difference to this video but the roach is the extra part of the sail on the leach which makes the curvature, a deviation from triangular shape. Wikipedia explains this nicely. I will recommend all these videos to my experienced sailing friends.

You say that the draft of the upper 2/3 of the mainsail must be adjusted with the backstay, but could it not also be adjusted with a combination of traveler/mainsheet, and boom vang?
