On the subject of lobster pots. They are only marked so they can be recovered. The bright orange polyform buffs are expensive and the UKs fishermen are under such financial pressure that they are forced to cut costs wherever they can. Such is life. Keep sailing shippers!

Thanks Rob. Sailing is all about confidence once you know the basics. It’s been a steep learning curve too as all boats handle differently so I’ve spent most of this year getting to know my boat. Jess has become a sea dog and seems to be enjoying it bless her.

Hi Dave,, I also have a Bavaria 36 we keep in Tarbert Loch Fyne, may cross paths when you are in the area, have been watching all your upgrades❤, the only upgrades we have done since owning Dawn Magic from 2020 is to fit a bow thruster, toilet, TV, and wind masthead sensor and fit a new head sail, looking forward to your next post David

To think only 300 years ago the Royal Navy explored and charted the world's oceans by sail alone, battling hurricanes, cyclones with loss of sails, spars, masts and men, often ships. With days of being becalmed as well, sailors exhausted from rowing and Scurvy towing the ship just to stay in the same place. A CPO (or the equivalent) and a Midshipman standing over them with a cat o' nine tails. They earned that almost a pint of Rum daily.

We owe a lot to those men who sailed all those years ago. I have been listening to various audio books recently about Cook, Trafalgar, Bligh etc. They've all been fascinating.
