great episode again, i don't know if i would have kept my cool enough to not play the song Blinding Lights out loud enough for them to hear 12:38 the name of that speed boat though xD omg

Some of these comments have had us chuckling, and yours had me doing so in the middle of a boat chandlery this morning 🤣 That would have been very funny. We hadn't even noticed the name of that speedboat! You are eagle-eyed.

Great job keeping a cool head with obvious unfriendly neighbors. I would have been over there in my dinghy and a fire extinguisher preemptively making sure there no fire .. staying cool was wise. Loving your videos keeping it real!!!

We admittedly had a little chuckle at your fire extinguisher idea 😄 And to be fair, Tony had a cooler head than Bryony in the moment... they narrowly avoided a very cross nursing-lecture.

You should have provided the name of the vessel, nationality and home port of the obnoxious sailors so that others can stay clear of them as they obviously want that.

Hi! Yes we took footage of the boat and I could have sworn that the appropriate details would therefore be on there, but it seems they have very little info on the hull (side or aft!) that I can see. They had an Australian flag though, I can say that much. I'm sure the vast majority of Australian sailors will not wish to claim them as their own, however! A poor reflection on a usually wonderful demographic.

Such a great video as the rest of the recordings I have to say. Your voice is engaging, your knowledge and skills are great and those combined characteristics make your videos fantastic. And in the eyes of a beholder...❤ sorry about frustration…

Thank you as always! It great to hear that the video, editing, and random knowledge is appreciated 😄 Frustrations are part of the adventure, hopefully we won't have anything similar again!

@CutterboveSailing just an awful typo in my comment- it should read: your voice is engaging, not enraging! Sorry!

I guessed that is what you meant, but had a little chuckle anyway. I'm sure there are some people out there that might find my voice enraging 🤣

Hi guys. Sunday, Caribbean, authorities and you are speaking to a "French" in English... that is impossible, even if they knew how to understand it. What you could have done is tied the green cardinal buoy over another signal. In cases like these, do not look for the port captain, but rather the Hydrographic Service of the area, island or region where you are. You send them a message in French through a translator App and if they don't pay attention to you, you send them a message in Chinese reminding them of their mother, THERE THEY WILL PAY YOU. 😁

Translator app is a great suggestion... we have one on our phones but clearly forgot to use them 😅 A bit tired after the strange night before, clearly!

When they turned the strobe on them you should have hailed back that you couldn't read the Aldis at that rate.

What is wrong with people is that not enough people ask them what is wrong with them. There are usually no consequences for their bad or inconsiderate behavior. 30 Euros finder's fee? Nice!
@CutterboveSailing
@CutterboveSailing 3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure they'd have come up with anything sensible or they'd been asked! The worst behaviour we have come across so far. And the 30 euros just about made up for Bryony almost being torn in two 😄

That strobe light was absolutely debilitating when shone straight in our eyes! Never come across anything so outrageous within the sailing community and hope not to again.

Time to call the port authority to explain something is wrong with that boat. All out that you have seen flashing lights and you think they need attention as in a emergency. You will see how comes up to see what is the problem
@CutterboveSailing

That would have been an interesting solution to the situation... if we find ourselves in a similar situation again, we may well do just that!

How can you visit a country(Dominica) and not even know how to pronounce it's name? It is not pronounced the same as the Dominican Repuplic.. Try Dominika.
@CutterboveSailing
@CutterboveSailing 3 ай бұрын
Hi there. There are two generally accepted pronunciations, and if you watch last weeks episode, you'll see that we tend to fluctuate between the two (more so the one with the Spanish influence). m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpjHc4yknJiFj9E

Take a look at the link I provided and see how real Dominicans pronounce it. No it is not generally accepted, it is indeed annoying . Sorry to get into this as I have no bone to pick with you. Just watch the vid and you will see. Respect and one love.
@CutterboveSailing

Hi, yes the examples you gave via links are the Spanish pronunciation with the stress on the third syllable, which as shown in our last episode is the one we try to use 😊 as its how the locals pronounce it. Being from England, however, and used to the English pronunciation, it is not an overnight change in our minds, so the other one does sometimes come out instead. We will continue to make a conscious effort to 100% switch across to the Dominican pronunciation. Thank you so much for that first link anyway, it's beautiful and we are going to watch it all the way through later! Thrilled to see that they included the Kalinago in it. All the best to you ⚓️
