Happy anniversary guys. Marigot bay is most definitely a slice of paradise, I loved it there. If you walk up the steep hill you find a local bar that is owned by the same guy that has a bar in the bay, only the prices are half up there.

How much do you (have to) pay these mooring buoy guys for their service?

I try to figure it as a % of the total cost of the ball. In places like the BVI, a ball costs about $35 USD. Elsewhere, it can be cheaper, but when you're paying in EC's, or Eastern Caribbean Currency, it's a conversion of XCD 2.7 to the US$. So $35 USD becomes XCD $95, and that sounds crazy expensive (but it's not). I think the weaker XCD hurts the locals and makes it harder for them to get paid well in XCD. What I see happening is that services that are more professional, like rigging and mechanical repairs, are priced in USD, since it sounds like less. So giving the Boat Boy guy $20EC is only really $7.40 US. A good hourly wage if you get a lot of cruisers looking for a ball, but they still have to pay for gas in the dinghy. We pay on the upper side of the range because it keeps everybody happy.
