The boat work IS the fun. And why they don’t make attractive floatation cases for phones boggles my mind.

Remember you could be doing this on a boat without a "Proper Engine Room!"

Had to rebuild the borg warner transmission in Puerto Madero Mexico. These engines are leaky. While tranny was off, replaced the real seal and the oil pan gasket. Got the tranny rebuilt in Tapachula for a great price! Have had VERY good service from my Perkins engines. The KP 44 had a 4-154. Good but not as good as the 4-235. Looks like you’re doing it right. “A stitch in time!

Absolutely - you are there and have it all out in front of you...change thaat gearbox seal same time. Also, often if the leakage is of blackish oil it will indicate engine oil, cleaner oil indicates gearbox oil.

nice work the seal probably flatspotted while sitting it's a common thing even in cars. Smart move doing the gearbox seal while it's apart

Hope the replacement seal is the orange silicon based one like the original as the black ones harden up due to engine heat and hot engine oil faster. And when it comes to replacing the rear seal on the Borg-warner the nut is extremely tight and its recommended to replace the nut. Ive made up a steel bar with all the diff Borg-warner bolt sizes and spacings to lock the coupling while undoing and then retorquing the coupling nut. Actually easier to do rear seal when the 'box is bolted to the engine. Some have an o-ring under the nut to stop oil travelling down the splined of the output shaft and out thru the coupling and sum just need a smear of RTV/Silicon pushed into the spline when the coupling is slipped on then the nut gets torqued up. By genuine Borg-warner metal cased seal if possible. And locate/buy sum Res-Q-Steel to go onto the splines in the driveplate and any fasteners on the boat subject to saltwater immersion/spray. Not meant for heat like exhausts but far far superior to any anti-seize product for marine use anove and below waterline.

Suggestion: It might make future work a little easier if you applied a little Permatex Never Seize on your bolts prior to assembly. And is Bella a MMA professional ?, I noticed the gloves....lol

RIP Government control device; Better off in Davy Jone's locker anyways. On a real, I haven't had Facebook or any of the other bs sm in almost a year and I a feel 10X better in the head. I took the time I would have been spending on SM and learned how to exchange CFD's on global market and have been practicing making money just clicking buttons. Much love, Much peace
