Hi Bobby! Love your videos, they’re great! My wife and I sail with our two goldens and we know how great it is to have the canine company. Our vet told us not to worrying sailing about their not peeing right away. They’ll only hold it until they can’t any longer and they’ll go long before they could hurt themselves. One of our dogs was a puppy on the boat while I live aboard to be nearer to my work so every morning I brought him on deck to “Go Pee” and it is now just what you do, no problem. Keep up the great videos!

Has anyone here watched a single sailing channel where they haven't had an engine issue somewhere along the way? Old or new boat. I think some of you have gone a bit over board with your comments. INMYHOP, Bob is doing the best he can and has done a stellar job with the new boat. I think that most of the hecklers wouldn't be able to make it out of the marina, if they were in his shoes. It's a huge undertaking.

Bob's pretty detail-oriented, so i was surprised when he said that the fuel tank hadn't been pumped and completely cleaned-out before they set sail. Old fuel is always suspect in any engine, gas or diesel.

Bobby, get some Diesel Kleen (by Power Service) at Walmart. Mix at the 2X ratio and put in the fuel tank. They also make a fuel tank cleaner for diesel to prevent bios from growing in your tank. The Diesel Kleen will also raise the cetane level, yielding a few more knots per gallon. Sometimes I also put a little (1/2 oz to a gallon of fuel) two-stroke oil in the diesel which helps quieten the engine and smooth it out. Bon Voyage! Great videos!!

hey Capt. Bobby.... look into getting a fuel polishing system on board... its a unit that cleans the fuel, removes built up bacteria in diesel and removes other contaminates ... it "polishes" the fuel and returns it to the mains....... also till you get one, buy fuel bactericide and bring along a few changes of filters... If you are using a RACOR type prefilter system.... Load up on the filters and keep them changed first..... The down stream filters wont clog up as fast if you keep the racor clean.......this info from experience... Carry on sailor...fair winds to you and the pups and crew....

Around 8:00, nice bag pipe orchestra you've got there. I had lots of problem with clogged filters before I cleaned my fuel tanks. Tried to pump it through an external filter after rocking the boat to stir up the sludge but that didn't work so I had to cut holes in the tanks and pressure wash them. Not stainless steel.

It’s really easy for them to criticize things, this is part of your journey and how you live. I love the fact that you figured it out and you got things going. This video brings back some good memories. Like Taylor I had only been a big lake sailor and started my first ocean cruise from Annapolis on a center console ketch (in my case a Morgan Out Island 51) back in 1993. (Oh, and I dealt with my share of fuel problems on that boat over the years, too....) We stopped in both Baltimore and Norfolk before departing the Chesapeake and unlike you had undamaged sails, but all in all things weren't so different. Welcome aboard Taylor! It looks like you're going to be a great addition to the crew.
@desertnurse85135 жыл бұрын
Aloha, doodles crew. Something you might want to look into is having the fuel tank cleaned. It may save you more headaches in the future. Basically a company will have a pump truck pumps all the fuel thru a filter system and pumps back into the tank a few times, cleans the old fuel and dislodged the crap in the tank, they change their filters a few times instead of problems for you.
@billycarber91585 жыл бұрын
you can purchase see-thru outer shell fuel filter housing to route fuel through as per above post---intake should be at our near bottom of tank--- regular fuel treatment will prevent algae that naturally forms--maintenance should always include testing for water in diesel engines as water harms injector spray patterns----most part stores carry diesel test sticks--if water is present stick will change colors--not a bad idea to install a water separator filter on each tank--last thing is to have necessary tools to bleed fuel and know how to accomplish task--most systems are easy but some have to be done in certain order to get the air out of system

You would be amazed at the slime that is created in a diesel tank as it sits from year to year from condensation. I used to share the job of hoisting the main, on our 40 foot cat, it was quite the job, especially in our humid summer! Just google, you should be able to find online, I laughed my head off the first time we used it because it’s so efficient after two years of hoisting manually, Hope this helps!
