I’m impressed! What was that mess that came up with the anchor? After the storm, the water was deliciously blue! Actually, it looked pretty wonderful before the storm. the outboard problem could be the prop. Mercury outboards have a rubber disc that connects the prop to the shaft to breakaway if you hit something with the prop. They wear out over time and start to spin.

Good episode. I hope you’re not disappointed by the flexi solar panels. In my experience even the most expensive last 2-3 seasons before output drops down to 25% ish. By comparison the solid panels last way longer. If you mount the flexi panels on a hard surface (like deck) they do better but on a moving surface like a bimini then that’s a quick death sentence - unless you put them on a frame. Good luck either way!
@SailingMillennialFalcon4 жыл бұрын
We have heard this and certainly don’t expect as good life expectancy on them as the hard panels. I’m still devising ways to make the soft top a bit more rigid with batons or something so they don’t flex and move as much... we’ll see!

I don't know if this has already been mentioned. But as a fellow paranoid anchorer I always dive the anchor while the motor is still running. If it isn't completely buried, I'll have my wife back down while I dove, grab either side of the hoop and give it a good side to side shaking. This will almost always bury it quite nicely. Then of course it was time for beer and slightly reduced worry about dragging.

Seriously mate, attach that safety strap. I saw a video recently on Sailing Zatara I think it was, of a guy that got thrown from his dingy. His wounds very nearly killed him slicing his leg, torso and redecorating his face, nearly cut his nose off. Was awful but he is on the mend. A dving buoy / marker may help boats from passing too close.
