On the gooseneck you do not want any space there should be a delrin washer above and below , having no space makes it 10x stronger and not allow the pin to bend as you have the support off bottom and top of gooseneck and the pin . The delrin over a stainless washer will stop the squeaking as the boom moves with a dab of teflon grease

Hey there me seafaring buddies. Very glad that Nahoa held strong for y’all to arrive in South Africa. I had read that you would find the trades there helpful. Hopefully all projects are completed in tip top time. Say that 3 times fast. I’m real interested in what your family time ventures into in between important boat work supervision. Keep things safe and satisfying. Culture us some more please. Kisses for all babies. Adults included. Hasta luego.

How super exciting. This was a great lead into the phase of the adventure. Love your attitudes, motivation and enthusiasm. Seagull Striker? Ben is making up words because he knows we don't know any better. I went into the local marine store, West marine, and asked for a sea gull striker and he pointed toward a tennis racket, ,lol We forgot you took out that big couch and made the cushions. What a great job you did. Ben does make a good point about "paying your dues". It is true in everyone's life but in a house, you can neglect things longer, but, Father Time always wins. We are in full time in our RV and since spring is almost here in the Pacific North West, we will need to survey the trailer and do some maintenance, too. We love taking a break and catching up with you guys. Sunday mornings are the best! We are so very very excited for ya.

Great to see you tackling the big jobs to keep Nahoa running like a Swiss watch but improving her usability to suit your needs. You are well placed in South Africa as it seems to have such a buoyant (excuse the pun) catamaran industry so all the trades and support you could ever need. Here’s to the next leg of our fascinating trail of photos. Looking forward to piggybacking the journey through your eyes. Keep well and safe.

That was very well done. I would love it if you could do the same thing about the standing and running rigging. I would really enjoy your insight about managing your sail plan, how you trim sails, etc. 5-6 years ago, I was watching 10 sailing channels, I'm down to two now, you guys, and Uma. They (Uma) have finally come clean about the real condition of their boat. It's not all fun and games.oyt there. Thanks for sharing! May the Good Lord Bless You and Keep You safe all of your days.

Bread maker? You can bake bread in a Dutch oven on your stovetop, whether gas or induction. Dutch oven stows away with pots and pans when not in use.

The one very complicated problem you mention is the diesel engine. Gasoline/diesel engines have 200-300 movable parts and fittings that can go bad, especially in seafaring conditions. For your next boat go totally electric using solar (and maybe wind). Mechanically, these are much simpler and most of the electric motors are sealed for lifetime use. You will not need to buy diesel, which is becoming more and more expensive, and have the issue of storing it. New electric systems even have regenerative propellers that actually generate electricity when you are under wind power. Love you show. The kids are going to be more and more an active part of it.

I would aged too.....and im 66 going on 85.....like i say its not the age for me its the mileage....ive been a roughneck on an offshore oil rig in late 70's in AK to selling servers for IBM in Toronto....i retired in 2006 right at 50 years old. I would be nervous on a small boat with my Maine Coon cats much less kids etc.....my hats off to you dude you got some guts and steel nerves....your wife does also.....
