Glad that you arrived safely. I hear that sailing passed the Nicaraguan coast you should sail "dark" with no AIS or nav lights as there are a number of reports of boats being boarded by pirates.

Yes we thought about it, but as sailors we don't really like things that float around in the seas 😉

Yes we do 😄 except when it’s really warm, then we love sleeping outside. And when sailing at night, as you’ve seen.

With an irridium Go we have internet at sea, but only very basic to send e-mails or text messages.

@FlesHBoX The antifouling is SeaJet, works pretty good indeed. And going sailing regularly definitely helps to keep the bottom clean.

Sorry, but I really laughed when you called the replica of the Santa Maria a “pirate” ship. The Santa Maria was the flagship and largest boat of Christopher Columbus’ 3-boat fleet when Columbus “discovered” America! Every American schoolchild knows this! Of course there not much reason for Europeans to have a thorough background in American history. It’s amazing that your Lagoon catamaran is almost as big as the Santa Maria. Which brings up this question: What curriculum are y’all using to homeschool the boys?

I’m happy I’ve put a smile on your face, not so happy that you wiped mine away with your rather rude comment ☹️ We just happen to have the (bad) habit of calling every large wooden boat a pirate ship, ever since the children were small. It might surprise you to know that I, as a European adult, do know about Christopher Columbus. Because in European history we do learn about the famous European explorer who discovered America. It just amazes me how some people find it necessary to comment on the one word that is wrong in a 20 minute video instead of applauding the good things. Anyway in the next episode we’ll turn the Santa María into a pirate boat so stay tuned!!

Of course we know the Santa Maria 😁 but we have the habit of calling all impressive wooden ships pirate ships. Might be a habit from when the kids were younger. And if you watch our next video you'll see how we turn this Santa Maria replica into a real pirate ship 😄
