I know it’s been said ad infinitum but you have one of the best ever opening video and music preludes on uTube, it makes me smile every time 🥰. That garden was magnificent, Maddie must have loved all the fresh produce for her kitchen stores. Love from cold and wet Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪☘️.

That cabin in the woods is supper cool! It's making me think of retiring in a place like that and doing the same thing if I end up being to old to sail.

I find this isolated life and the friends' farm very interesting. I'm worried about the mosquitoes and the heat. But it's very interesting to see these lifestyles and the initiative to build a sailboat and the anxious dog when he left.

Great episode and fantastic content. Back that up with at least a 3 minute technical repair teaser. Do that awhile and I would bet/guess your metrics would take a significant jump.

Hi Rick. In the clip of the drone shot of the top of your mast what is the smaller antenna on the rear of the mast head?
@Island_Times10 күн бұрын
I remember that lightning strike . I recently put an EMP Shield on my 53ft Trimaran . They supply the DOD so i'd like to assume they can work and offer i believe a 20k warranty against damage if it doesnt work , though proving and claiming evidence i have no idea, might be blowing smoke up my A***.. lol But having said that, i'd rather spend the few hundred bux on the snake oil in the hope it does work as it would ultimately save me tens of thousands of bux in electronics and LifePo4 BMS' etc .
@SailingSophisticatedLady10 күн бұрын
I'm just glad that we have only taken indirect strikes so far.. touch wood! :)
@Island_Times10 күн бұрын
@@SailingSophisticatedLady yes, many of us have dodged that bullet. My Trimaran is a ketch , so even though I'm 53ft long I'm far from the tallest yacht in the bay which I think has helped. I also try to hard disconnect as many items as possible during forecasted lightening storms keeping the ends of the leads well away from each other so as to avoid an arc .

Hey Rick! Thanks for all y'all share. However, I have a question that is off-topic for this video. I know you have quite a bit of Solar on the boat, I love the side wing solar panels, but, is there a reason why Panels could not be placed on the sides of the boat? Between the water line(above the water line) and the deck? My thought would be the salt spray, but the sun reflecting might boost power. Am I off on those thought? Thanks!!!!! Merlin

Do you flush your outboard?
@SailingSophisticatedLady10 күн бұрын
Never met a single cruiser that did, because they are in the water every day.. if your boat lives at a dock and the dinghy is out of the water for extended periods, then yes would be a good idea.

Sorry, but there isn't nearly enough resolution on the drone camera to see anything. Unless something is catastrophicly broken you're not going to see it. If anything it just gives you a false sense of security that may put you in a worse situation. There's no substitute to going up the mast and properly inspecting things, especially the rigging
@SailingSophisticatedLady10 күн бұрын
Of course! But right now my concern is just finding the issue with our VHF radio.. and don't forget, if I need to I can pull a much higher resolution shot from the drone than can be seen on KZbin.. this was just for illustration purposes.
