I had been casually following several sailing channels, but when I found yours about four years ago, I promptly binge watched from the beginning to catch up, and have slowly left the other channels behind. This fast review of the past nine years was definitely up to your very high standards of video editing. I have traveled to over 60 countries myself (on land), so I understand your thirst for travel and adventure. Thank you so much. I am looking forward to your coming adventures, especially since you have added the defender to your explorations. I can't wait! Networks with their producers, writers, editors, and more, could learn from the two of you. You two, and your drone, are as good as or better than they are. As I said a few lines ago, I can't wait for what's coming next. Go Uma!

If I remember correctly, my first episode was the day Uma arrived in Florida by truck from Boston. I immediately binged watched the episodes I had missed. This channel is my first YT sailing channel and the one responsible for reawakening a childhood dream of sailing the world. The time has gone by so quickly. It has been a true pleasure to have accompanied you guys so far and I look forward to seeing what you will do to make Uma last another fifty years..

My first episode was Kika cleaning the deck of what looked like a boat that was ready to fall apart. Went back to step 1 and haven't missed an episode. My favorite step was their visit to a warship, and my favorite story is about how Coco came to live with them.

Like most people I found you when Kika first destroyed the furniture industry by telling people not to buy a couch. That was a great episode and they've gotten better each week. UMA was the first boat I watched being taken apart then put back together. For nine years I've watched your sailing adventures, listened to your story telling and being with you as you developed into a wonderful couple who are doing what they love. Thank you for taking us along and best wishes for the next 9.

I have long maintained that the explosion of KZbinrs has negated the need for anyone to go to film school. The experience and skills that content creators are developing in the real world making real stuff for real people far outshines any formal education. This channel is the first one I mention when speaking about this. Great work Kika - keep it up! BTW, when is the wedding? Or are you just staying engaged?
@AndieBlack13
@AndieBlack13 Жыл бұрын
"...negated the need for anyone to go to film school." Really?, I'm guessing your standards for cinematography is rather low then...most all created video content here on KZbin is of rather poor quality, lighting, sound, composition, creative cinemaphotography utterly lacking.

I am 59 years old about to be 60 and I’ve been boating for about 15 years. I have a 24 foot walkaround powerboat and I love it. However, I can’t help but to envy the freedom you two experience on your sailboat. I love how you’re partners in everything you do; plus your channel is professionally done and exciting. As much as love watching you both sail around the world, I’m just unwilling at this point in my life to try to learn how to sail, so I’ll have to live my sailing life through your experiences. Keep up the good work and smooth sailing.

Seeing UMA empty reminds me of building pilot boats back in the UK. The only real difference is the pilot boats have hollow stringers glassed in for additional strength. Watching your 9 in 9, I realised how long I've been following your progress, maybe a bit envious as life commitments haven't allowed me to leave Spain yet :)

I don't care anything about what the nay-sayers go on about you THREE. I love your videos all because the two of you make a GREAT team!! You three are willing to go where all the fair weather sailors don't want to go, too scared to go or just plain too bloody lazy to do as you have done because it would take too much of their drinking time. I absolutely love seeing those rugged almost black and white with an occasional splash of colour or at least a slash of green pictures and videos all against the deep blue sea. You can take the southern latitudes but for me the rugged spirit of the north, where it's you and the bare nature of our beautiful planet that makes my heart sing. Thank you for it all. Fair winds and gentle waves to all three of you.

My grandfather was a tugboat cook and he made it to the NY TV news shows as he floated in a life ring, smoking a cigar and wearing his fedora after the barge his tug was pulling passed his boat flipping it over in Hell's Gate. Amazingly complex currents in that river.

Fantastic video. Just found your page. I'm a Southern Californian now living in Arendal Norway, a small city in the South of Norway. After spending the last 4 years cruising the archipelago in the South of Norway in a 25ft cabin cruiser, my girlfriend and I just bought a 2005 Beneteau Oceanis 323. She's an experienced sailor, but this is all new to me. It's the end of our season and we just put the boat up for the Winter. Im so inspired by your video. I can't wait until the Spring. . Who knows, perhaps we'll one day see you in the open seas. Great voyages to you both. 💌

Well done Kika! What an adventure you two (and Uma) have been on! I have to say though that I kind of miss the early days of meeting the locals, doing some philanthropic good, and exploring the locations. At some point you guys shifted to "we're the only ones here" and lost the connection. Love watching still and you do have the credit of introducing me to an amazing woman I wouldn't have otherwise met (I still whistle the outro while walking through stores/parking lots, hoping lightning strikes twice!!) How about showing some of Italy, or at least introducing the wonderful people at the marina where Uma is getting her 80s movie makeover? --Taking off her glasses-- Adding a bunch of new fiberglass and --some new make up-- an entirely new interior is interesting, but so is/are where you are and the people around you.

Thank you! This is a great video to pass on to others that may not understand sailing. Being "brought up" (4-7 weeks of summer vacations) on a small sail boat, mainly in the larger Stockholm archipelago. My late dad loved that geography, life style, culture (and boat) and I will now show this video to my kids (10 and 12) to make them somewhat understand what the sea is and how amazing it is. Hopefully they can, in some part, be inspired by your "non highway of living". When economy allows and they have grown some more I will buy a boat with my brother and his family and go sailing.❤

I started watching your channel while you were sailing on the coast of Norway. I'm not a sailor and have only a passing interest in sailboats (thanks in large part to Sampson Boat Co.). How I discovered your channel was because I live in Belize and during the early days of the lockdowns there was a story in the news about some sailors that were ignored here and then extorted for money by the police when they finally had to come ashore - without permission - for provisions. I wondered what other sailors were doing and how were they able to survive. I started looking for other sailing channels to see. I subscribed to several channels just because I was curious and it was surely a very difficult time for many of the sailors. There was one group of about 4 or 5 boats that were ordered to stay on a deserted island for over a month with supplies being brought to them by the coast guard. :O Besides a couple of wooden boat builds that I still watch, Sailing Uma is the only sailing channel I watch because you two always bring the adventure. Here's to nine more years. I'll stick around.

This channel is the reason I own a sailboat! Granted, much smaller and on a landlocked lake, but it sails! Wish I had never bought a couch!

It was so moving to revisit all the stories, come to think of it "we" have spent more time together than I have with most of my family. I have been tagging along as a virtual crew member since around the Lazy Susan build in Florida.. feels like it was yesterday. Here is to another 9 years! Cheers

Excellent presentation. I've been with you for the last 6 years. It was fun when I could say "Oh! I remember when they did that."

Nine years has gone by very fast. I have been watching you guys for five years and have seen every one of your videos. By far my favorite channel. I wish I could afford,to become a patron but living on SS and fixed income, cant be. I am retired and livimg in the Philippines, a great place to live and visit. So I am looking forward to the next nine years and invite you to visit the Philippines.
