Thanks to a gift from Mother Nature that came from gusts topping 50 miles per hour, we now have a pretty good pile of logs to mill into lumber. The only trouble is the fact that we have to get them out of the woods. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

That looked like an overhand knot. Check out the actual butterfly knot from a mountaineering standpoint. There is also a bowline on a bite that you can do or a trucker’s hitch knot.

Yeah the butterfly doesn't really shake out easily after a large load. The Prusik will probably work fine but don't cut your long line as the Prusik should be sized smaller than the line it bites on.

For pulling logs A timber hitch. One of the first attachments I learned. A bowline is easy to untie . For shorting a line. airplane pilots use a hitch to tie down planes, I don't know the name.

I would use a shorter chain to the bucket on the tractor. You can weld a hook on the bucket. It has the advantage of easier control of the log and keeps the log cleaner Cleaner logs equal sharper saws.

A small small well designed floor plan is much like a large well designed home in that much of same material is used, however from one home builder to another small will get you washer dryer, bathroom, kitchen small room and small living space in small amount of time. Then a door unto your huge home can be comfortably built. Priceless or you will not notice not having clean until later. You will not care though time will go by.

With the small design you can improvise systems a little to get you in.

You should get a winch line damper you hang it in the middle of the line so if it snaps it takes alot of the energy out.

You can have a draft team logger pull those hard access logs out and he will leave no evidence he was ever there after a few rain storms. Maybe a collab video with someone by calling the local pulling contest organizer for names.

The knot you are looking for is Bowline on a Bight.

I'm fairly sure that you won't find a better knot than the alpine butterfly (I'm an arborist and rope access tech).

I've used a figure of eight on a bight for setting up climbing belays. Quick to tie and easy to undo (although not sure how easy that would be after pulling a tree though!)

Is the plan to plant more trees to replace the ones you are using?

We aren't necessarily planting new trees as the land is raw forest land and there are thousands of trees sprouting up all over in places we don't want them, such as in the roads and where our home will be going. Rather, we have been moving some of the small trees out of those areas to spots that have been fire damaged and where clearings could support more trees.

Are you familiar with a corduroy road? Might save you some money. Use the bigger limbs and saplings to "pave" the bad areas of the road.

How about a "bowline on a bight"? (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ7ap6WQjrmArJY) The classic bowline is always my favorite go-to knot on my boat and this looks to have the same basic design so that it can "easily" be un-done when you are finished.
