We're sailing our way out of Maine onboard our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. It's been an awesome summer up here, but it's time to move on. In this video, we spend some time visiting Monhegan Island. It's a small island with a very artsy, summer camp feel. The water is freezing, though! Jeff wanted to dive in. He tried and tried. Do you think he did it? You'll have to watch to find out.
Next we visit Boston, on the hottest weekend in recorded history. We still had a fun time, though, walking the Freedom Trail, drinking slurpees, and touring the USS Constitution, the oldest floating war ship on the planet.
Finally, Jeff sings his way to Provincetown, otherwise known as P-Town, where we rode bicycles all over the trails and Jeff got his ears pierced.
Music in this episode is from Carolyn Wonderland, Mike Zito and Larkin Poe. And, as always, a special thank you goes out to Damon Fowler for writing and recording our fabulous theme song.
Thanks for watching!

I can attest that Jeff sings like that often, whether under sail or at anchorage 😂

You mean: sings "beautifully" like that often, right?

Thank you again for taking me back to places I love. Monhegan - the boss and I would put a bottle of wine and glasses (plastic) into my back pack and head ashore for our hike. I recall returning to the boat after dark full of great food and drink. Loved every Moment in Maine.

It was so cool. We could have gotten better footage but it was either scramble to find another camera or just simply watch and enjoy the visit. 😇

Constitution - never retired. Still in service. 20 years ago (?) she completed a full refit and she was taken out,sails raised and she actually sailed under her own power.

Thanks Paul. It’s amazing down here as usual but we forgot how close everything is here. The 6 mile sails from island to island used to seem so dangerous and far away. Now it’s like we don’t even feel like putting up the Main for such a short sail 🤪

Love your trips and commentary. Have you ever thought about putting together a video detailing out some of the expenses associated with your travels. Love to get a better idea of some of the costs associated with cruising.
@SailingWindTherapy
@SailingWindTherapy Жыл бұрын
We haven’t really thought about doing a travel expense video for two reasons. The first is because the expenses can be a bit subjective. Some folks live on rice and beans and the fish they catch. They anchor 100% of the time and do not use any unnecessary diesel. They want to know exactly how much everything costs. And that’s great and totally okay. Some folks are the exact opposite. We are somewhere in between but honestly closer to the opposite side where we’re okay dropping $40 for a mooring ball to be closer to town as opposed to anchoring a couple of hundred yards further away. We didn’t think people who watch our videos really cared about that info. The second reason is because we honestly haven’t done a very good job keeping track of the actual expenses. 🤪

OMG, the water is frigid here in Maine even in the height of summer! Good news though...we have some excellent boatyards up here if needed.

Wow. Beautiful. Not the old guy swimming though…. :) No offence intended…. (Aussie humour might not travel well). What are the shiny brass spheres-with-mouth and rope in throat thingies on the canon deck of the Constitution?

The USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship afloat. Legally, she is still on active duty and carried on the Navy roll. AFAIK she is the headquarters of Naval Division 1, but I doubt much business of the division is transacted aboard her. At present, she is the only warship on the Navy roll to destroy or capture an enemy vessel.

She’s a really cool ship. Our son-in-laws mother served on her for a few years! Didn’t know that last fact about the only warship to capture an enemy vessel though!
