This was the first ever thing I watched of sailor moon when I was growing up. Ran across it when looking for a Godzilla video of all things, and never looked back. Love this series so much now, and it all started here.

I was disturbed by it, too. Especially when I was a kid. Serena/Darien was my first OTP. Darien was supposed to be out of the country, and was ''dead'' at the time (depressing, but that's how it turned out) and Serena didn't know this, and she missed him a whole lot. Seiya did help her through being-apart-from-Darien, but she never developed real feelings for him, contrary to what Seiya/Serena fans want to believe. In the very last episode she actually said ''We'll be friends forever''.

Ok for all those who are asking. The sailor star fighter,healer, and maker are females. However, out of all the scouts they have the best secret identity. When they came to Earth they can transform into males for everyday life, but once they go into their true scout form they become females. This is the main reason why the USA did not allow the stars season to come over... They are hoping their song reaches their OWN princess

You're close. Mamoru was supposed to be going to America, but was attacked on the flight and his ''star seed'' was stolen (if your star seed is stolen you basically die but if it's given back you come back.). Usagi missed him a whole lot, and that's when Seiya appeared and started to like her. He helped her stay happy as a very good friend, not really as a replacement for Mamoru. In the end she gets Mamoru back and thanks Seiya, telling him they'll be friends forever. It's kind of sad.

As far as I understand, Darien was away in college at the time, so they were still together but were long distance. Am pretty sure they were still considered a couple here. Just some things seems to have happened while Darien was away. I think Serena/Usagi was just missing Darien a lot and was just hanging out with Seiya for the time being.

@lillytimelord Usagi(Sailor moon) Did not know that Darien died, she believed for the longest time (until main bad women told her) that he was too busy with Med school in the USA and that is why she had heard from her. Thus why she was still touchy about sailor star fighter's interest in her, she felt that would have been cheating. Not to mention Darien did ask for her hand in marriage before he left.
