The movie take place at an odd time, so I am unsure if they actually are canon with the TV series. But he would have already met him according to the timeline. But the R movie wouldn't exist since this is the first season.

I don’t believe they truly explain how he had money. Just that he couldn’t remember who he was following the car accident that killed his parents when he was young. But he did go to school. He was in collage threw-out the series, except in the last season when he was attacked on his way to study abroad in America.
