Saimaa Cycle Tour in Imatra, Finland.
This is the second time Saimaa Cycle Tour has been arranged. A very nice event in the Finnish region of South Karelia that has the potential to grow into something big in the future. Follow my journey on this very challenging ride. 300 kilometers on rolling hills.

Chapeau! Well "kämpad"! I have always said to foreigners to be aware Finnish traffic.. it is what it is. Cars go first and slowing is no option! Even it has been getting a bit better still on every ride at least one close passing.. and number of cars is usually very low. This spring I encountered my first "chicken" -game with a car! No other traffic, forestry road and he wanted just roast me. 😵‍💫 Yes, big trucks are special extra and the reason avoid all one or two numbered roads on every time when possible. Good ride! Well managed with the pain. "Sisu -puukko" could be awarded. 😉Even with long travelling time hopefully You'll get back and have another night ride!

Thank you. Yes, traffic was a bit crazy, but it’s about the same here. I would love to go back to Finland to ride. There are a few gravel events I have my eyes on. Also, going bikepacking with my family in Åland is on my bucket list. You have a beautiful country. Tack good care of it. See ya!

Wow, what a great adventure. & excellent filming. I couldn't have done it better myself. & that's saying a lot, because I'm phenomenal at everything I do. I love all the details of your filming that seemed to paint us an excellent picture of what you experienced.

I should probably lie & tell you that there's one in southern California for no other reason than to get you to come out so we could hang out, but I really can't think of any. I think I've maybe heard of one in Death Valley? Ever been? Amazing place. Either way, I'll look it up.

Hey, I haven't watched your videos before but was linked this in twitter. You seemed familiar and indeed I did catch myself in the video. Great that you took the effort to get to Imatra. I also had difficulties getting there and my train being an hour late. I do agree about the traffic in the last 100km. There were quite a bit of large trucks in the morning, but nowhere as much as if the event had been on a weekday (it was sunday). I felt quite safe in the night as more riders were grouped together and most of the cars going past were actually the teams' service vehicles (saw the registrations were often the same). It's interesting to get to know the contrasts to Vätterrundan. I was aware that you actually don't see Saimaa lake very often and of the rolling hills as I am familiar with the terrain. It definitely helped with the expectations :) Nice that you did a video about this, safe rides!

Tack så mycket! Nästa år går det snabbare. Då är vi beredda på backarna… Hamnade bakom ett stort brett gäng som bromsade i nerförsbackarna och hade noll fart kvar när uppförsbackarna började. Men samtidigt var vi där för äventyret, så allt blev perfekt ändå. 🙂
