Agree. Turos approach is selfish and the totally disrespect and disregard Turo hosts business model. My fleet is small with only 6 2023,and 2024 BMW and Mercedes Benz. Why should I be prodded to drop the prices of my vehicles to other German vehicles which are 10+ years older than mine to remain on the platform? Moreover, why shouldn’t I the host be able to screen guests to my expectations, especially since Turo has sent me so many scammers since engaging Turo Go? Now that Turo now has auto extensions for Turo guests I am forced with making important decisions about remaining on the platform. Fortunately, I own my cars outright so I have this option.

I have been a host since 2018, this past year I have noticed this too. The double dipping insurance has always been an issue. But recently I had a guest with a 3 day rental. The guest complained they were charged $506 I checked my receipt for this guest and It showed $286 with my earning being $228. There were many extra hidden fees and charges on the guest copy! Including a sales tax in a state that does not have a sales tax!

yes! I've seen the same as well! This creates a huge issue between guest expectation and hosts experience

@@45pdx wow. They must be using the guests home state to determine sales tax much like online shoppers. However, when you travel to a state with no sales tax, you don’t pay sales tax based on your home state when you purchase goods and services. How is this any different? I peaked at 17 cars and I have 15 in rotation now. I’m about to put it on auto pilot and start my exit. It’s not getting much of my time and energy anymore.

Agreed. Turo fails to understand the simple adage, “You can have it Good, Fast, or Cheap” choose 2.

great video. I think all platforms go through phases, and turo is moving into the "get more money out of hosts" phase. it happens because the supply of hosts has increased enough

Well said. The discount model is a race to the bottom. It erodes the franchise. More discounts, lower margins, less service. Walmart’s everyday low prices won over Kmart’s blue light specials. Walmart is still around. Kmart went under.

There's so many negatives that came with Automatic booking. 1. Less Host flexibility 2. Less location options for guests since hosts removed several of them 3. Why does Turo still have verbiage such as "host response time" or "accepting more trips boosts your search". Lol, that's all irrelevant now 4. The guest rating system holds no wait or value since hosts can no longer make business decisions based on those reviews, (without penalty) Seems like Turo is trying to scrape out as much cash as possible so that they can pay off the investors before the impending doom...

I went from 25 cars down to about 10 and will be reducing even more. Even if I was making good money in turo (which I’m not anymore) I would still be very skeptical of the direction they steering this ship. I think it’s headed for an iceberg 🤷‍♂️

If y’all understand the “Golden Rule” the man with the gold makes the rules. You ain’t ever gonna win playing by someone else’s rules. Figure out a way to rent them out under your own business. Turo is making all the money & leaving y’all the scraps.

@@af642d absolutely and now if you have a problem guest that ghosts you, they have up to 24 hours to extend the trip without your authorization. I don’t think I can get down with this. I’m able to cut off bad renters by having the option to say no.

And how can they legally allow breach of contract without our consent. You better believe I will block the car immediately after it’s booked . I will make sure I have my minimum set to the longest possible. This is absolutely ridiculous.

yes! I think the problem is though you sort of get penalized by not ranking in the search when you adjust the settings in that way so it's a tough situation

I had 17 cars at one point. Even then it wasn’t worth it. Now, tomorrow I finally sell my last car and exit the platform all together. It was only profitable 1.5 years. Good luck, and stay away.

We just got a promotion here to offer free airport delivery and Turo will pay the host. The fees the Airport charges are high and the guests are not liking it.

Yeah I was thinking about moving my business to another city, but because of the changes in the business I am a little unnerved if I will fit in elsewhere.

@@saimahsexperience I’ve been testing get around for the last 2 months and it seems they are heading in a better direction than Turo! One of my cars was permanently deleted from Turo & it’s doing well on get around! It had a 4.93 rating on Turo so there wasn’t any complaints there either but they said it was removed due to maintenance issues. 5.0 rating on get around and a couple reviews saying the car rides great! My cats has been coming back from trips MUCH cleaner than Turo guests. Light cleans in between to disinfect but nothing major!

Yea they’re listening to everyone else except their hosts screaming at them that their constant changes does not help hosts but put them only at risk. Tbh I’m giving it maybe 2 more years because soon I feel we may not be able to choose what feature we want for they’ll enable everything automatic, heavy discounts and basically say hey!! We’re trying to make it easier for you…. It’s sad what they’re doing because allot of power hosts are looking to leave the platform now

They're slowly forcing us hosts to bend over backwards to accommodate guests but we get nothing in return for it. Sorry but hundreds of 5 star reviews, All star/Power host status & other little trinkets we get for doing well doesn't pay the bills. It has to be mutually beneficial for both guests AND hosts for this to work!

100% agreed! At the end of the day what they value is hosts who are running their cars like a business on the platform but the becomes null and void if the hosts don’t have the ability to actually “run” their businesses.

@@tysofly3579this is in response to the feedback the executive team was asking for 1-2 months ago. I was on their list for having negative reviews that violate policy removed and they called to discuss it. I gave them an ear full and it turned into a warning for me requesting to have reviews removed that they find to be in violation of the review policy? How bass acwards this platform is. That’s an internal issue. They were talking to me like I physically deleted them lol. They certainly are pushing back and pushing back hard but they are most definitely pushing some legal bounds with this update.

I think this is the summary of corporate america and its thirst for greed. Is Turo doing so well that they are trying to cut corners in every way to make as much money as possible or is there not much demand for the hosts to truly succeed in their business? I believe as with any huge company as soon as a product/service reaches its peak phase the value begins to diminish. Does this hurt turo? Not as much as we would think. The turnover ratio allows it to keep itself from sinking as there are new hosts everyday to keep trucking along as the veterans in the game can see all the water thats getting onto the boat. Just like a seesaw however there will be highs and there will be lows. Thats all apart of business itself. Either we figure a way to patch all the holes in this said boat or we jump ship hoping that another boat is nearby to save us.
