Anyone know the technical name of the hinged, shoe stretcher device inserted at 15:31? It's obviously used to maintain form, and appears to be matched to this pair of shoes. I'd love to know how to DIY something similar. Or, where to purchase devices of similiar construction & quality. Anyone care to share a few secrets?

you mean the shoe trees? you are right they specific to the last of the shoe. best bet is to get it from the retailer selling the shoes or from the artists themselves, wherever you get the shoes from.

Having seen a leatherworker's hands....if this is her day-in day-out job, there's no way her nails normally look like that... she did them specifically for this video.

Anon Ymous , I agree, I work with leather, glue and stitching and my hands are rarely spared, but those crafts people are artist's make it look easy.... Trimming the sole so close to the upper and not a scratch or a slip with the blade is mastery and of course each step aswell!

Labor intensive, much better than Chinese (Meermin), naturally more expensive (starting at $1400)...made in Romania. Though I am wondering why not fully welted, instead of using wooden nails?
