My mom used to take me their when I was younger. It was only a 1 hour train ride from Moncton New Brunswick. I would always want to go to the movie theatre once when their, we only went their in late spring or anytime in the summer time. She liked how close it was to Moncton New Brunswick, and wanted to take me on a trip. So she took me here a few times.

I recently thought of moving to Saint John, NB but then I learned about a large pulp and paper mill, a bit disappointing from an air quality point of view. I hope to visit SJ sometime this year.

From what I have seen Saint John is a very interesting City with a dynamic history. It continues to call to me. I might want to retire there. I live in Victoria, on the Island (the West Coast "Rock") and there is so much more history in Saint John than here. And close to New York, Boston, Montreal, Halifax ... day tripping. Long weekends. I love Saint John from afar. If I can I might fly out in June.

@@tryzmsotryll That’s all you think of Saint John? The people who live here and constantly hate on the city drive me crazy. You don’t appreciate what we have. I love the older saint john . You can walk uptown and sit in a crowd king square. Now the square and uptown us just like a ghost town. Unfortunately the people that are in charge do nothing for out uptown area . Makes me sad
@rps16894 жыл бұрын
It is a sad sight and somewhat of an eyesore. Also the ridiculous corrupt parking bylaws make it a nuisance. The people in charge cozy up to the Irvings and residents of Quspamsis too much instead of the local electorate.

There are more restaurants there than ever before and a lot more little shops than have been there in a long time. I think a lot more is being done with the uptown now than has been going on in years.

It has been closed for many years . I believe its Ryan duffy's . saint john / new brunswick and Canada for that matter is running off of 20 century fumes . Saint john is a very poor state of affairs because of poor leadership . Many of our youth have travelled abroad ( including myself , but still live i NB) for employment . Our intelligent politicians knows the missing ingredient to our problem to our surprise . We will immigrate third world immigrants . Yes this will solve the problem won't it . People that have no family or heritage ties will be a great success . Stupid stupid people to actually believe this will solve our problems . It will get worse , again from leadership .
@shiftingmercury60853 жыл бұрын
@@matthewrenton1423 I’m assuming you have done a lot for the city personally since you have so much family and heritage in Saint John. Give me a fucking break. If people who need to escape war or find a better life want to come to Saint John and have a go at it, they are more than welcome. Just because someone comes from a poorer or unstable area in the world doesn’t make them incompetent. A lot of the Syrians who have come had careers in their homeland but were driven out by the violence. All our European ancestors came here as immigrants. Many were poor and came with nothing. But they built a beautiful, successful port city. If Saint John natives want to leave the province instead of helping build the city up again, and immigrants want to come here and contribute and will appreciate the city instead of tearing it down, then why should we turn them away? Especially those who are in need of refuge. I for one don’t want to turn away families who are trying to protect their children from having to dig their bodies out of the rubble of their bombed homes. I think you are missing the greater picture. Bringing new hope and new beginnings to Saint John is only going to help our city heal. Open your heart and mind up to new possibilities. The attitude you have is dying out in Saint John and most of us are welcoming newcomers and the contributions they can make. Immigrants are bringing their own culture and opening restaurants and shops that will enhance our city and contribute to our own culture. Don’t be an asshole.
