Isn't it symbolic to see that the first person to arrive at mount athos and establish this sense of asceticism is named as peter? Just like the faithful peter who shepherd the flock of the lord? @WhiskyRidgeАй бұрын
Stop considering and go. Find a vibrant parish, experience the Church, talk to the priest, meet the parishioners.
@TrisagionfilmsАй бұрын
@dominicmathis7504 The person who said you should ignore parish priests and only look for elders in monasteries is misguided. Parish priests are more equipped to deal with ordinary people; elders, on the other hand, tend to deal with monks. I strongly suggest that you find a good parish with a good priest, and then once you make that connection, you can visit monasteries as well.

My friend please keep in mind and please never forget what Christ said who is God the second person of the Blessed trinity , very God from very God in one essence with the father he said and was clear if you do not drink of my Blood you have no life in you ,he makes it clear also clear reference in Corinthians apostle Paul stating many of you are sick and dying. taking the Lord supper in an unworthy manner if it was just a symbol,Juice and crackers how can that cause people to be sick and dying , also it’s written Jesus said when he told all the other followers heard him saying about his body and blood, stated in the Scriptures jesus said that this was a hard saying and they all walked away and then he turned to the apostles and said , you too , will you also leave, and they said no Lord, you have the words of eternal life notice he never corrected those that questioned about his body and blood. He never followed up with clarifying it. Saint Polycarp was a disciple of the apostle John his writings. It is truly his body and blood, take for “ this is “ my body “ Drink of this “for this is “ my Blood that has been poured out for you and for many “ fpr the remission of sins the only way sins can be forgiven, yes he took our penalty. but Our daily sins and mortal sins must be cleansed by confession and holy communion. this how the church was established upon this not 1500 years later with Martin Luther also by the way, Martin Luther never denied the body and blood you must look into history and find out how old the different branches of Protestantism and how the fighting with that led to deny the body of blood when it once was by Martin Luther and also Mary and Martin Luther so important and severe your soul depends on it for crisis many think that they are on, he stated to the apostles when he sent them out those sins you forgive our forgiven those things you retain are retained, he give them the authority, and that authority was past on to their disciples, and so on and so forth through the ages the centuries of the church this is the apostolate succession jesus established, and set up the church by and through the apostles the church in the no way was tons of different denominations hundreds and sects , my beloved friend is Christ divided ? impossible. His church is not divided , orthodoxy, and for that manner Catholicism does not have different sects that a whole other subject orthodoxy It is one holy Catholic and apostolic church which is not changed from its inception , Christ be with you , pray my friend may the Holy Spirit Guide you to all truth and the True undivided church😊❤️🙏🏻✝️🌷

That angel is the reason we must always bear humility. Some people think it is overkill to constantly "put yourself down" as the greatest sinner and unworthy of anything, but if we do not keep this in mind especially when beauty and pride tempt us, we risk being driven away from God, by thinking we have earned our way closer to Him than others. We all know of terrible false paths that have begun by listening to angels telling us that we have been chosen to correct God's message.

I have a question. How come St Peter calls the Theotokos his everlasting pillar? Is that title not only for God? By the way, i intend to be a catachumen so this is a genuine question.
@castleincorporatedАй бұрын
Because She is. Faithful to help, quick to hear, cherished and loved. Through her cooperation with the divine will the Incarnation of Jesus Christ happened. She magnifies God, Christ, with her position and title of "The one who gave birth to God" - it's to point to the nature of Jesus of God, not just to magnify her, though she is worthy of it. Realize she is the Ark of the Covenant who held God, the new Eve who returned us to paradise (through her Son). all of the (Through Christ!) is implied. May your learning be blessed.
@yecksdАй бұрын
God isnt one to hog the Glory that is, in truth, only worthy for Him to possess. He delegates power over stars and nations to Angels, He allows His Saints to be honoured in His Church. we have many fathers, but God is our True Father. we have many priests but Christ is our True Priest. there are many holy ones but He is the Holy One. yet He gives of Himself to His beloved and He delights to see us honor His friends. thus, even though God is our True Pillar, the Saints and foremost His Holy Mother are also our everlasting pillars. hope this helps! God bless you, I pray you become a Catechumen soon

@ChristianBrethren24 For the monks (who leave father and mother, siblings and relatives), the Theotokos becomes their mother, their comfort, their consolation and their pillar of support in their life of ascesis. This may be difficult to understand if you come from a world that rejects to give her any place in the life of the Christian, but it is not so in Orthodoxy where she is always invoked to help and support us by intercessing to her son on our behalf.
