Love the exhibits! Especially the beaver! With the dam implemented into it too! And I think it's a fair idea to have these old Victorian buildings turned into other things with time but keeping the same building shape and design just recently at the National Zoo in DC the birdhouse just opened up again and it kept alot of the old building exterior but renovated the inside and such alot of that zoo has kept the old Victorian buildings but renovated the insides or touched up the outside and the buildings do seem inspired by European Old Zoo Buildings

Thank you Sam! I hope you realized that the episode title is because of you :D And yeah, that's our main take-away as well when we look at older American zoos. A lot of these buildings could have been in European zoos, as they were simply inspired by those zoos and building styles to begin with!

I will say, if I didn't already know this zoos backstory, I would think it's meant to be a European Zoo. But, I do like the plans for the old entrance area! Can't wait!

You've mentioned that on quite a few of our videos so far, but you know, as long as you're being vague about it we have no idea what exactly makes you feel that way 😅 Sure that one beaver building wasn't directly inspired by an American zoo, but literally the majority of our exhibits and buildings are all primarily based on references we get from a multitude of historic American zoos, from Bronx Zoo to Memphis Zoo to Lincoln Park Zoo (to just name a few). Feel free to give us some constructive criticism here, we're all for it, but we'll need you to be a bit more specific because honestly none of us have a clue at this point.😂
