why does he face the piano at the beginning of the 3rd movement?
@dileepgangolli651410 ай бұрын
Mr Kim, I have very much enjoyed your performance of this work - a staple in our repertoire. I'm curious about your blowing into the piano in the low register of the third movement. Are you trying to capture overtones of the piano by doing this or are you allowing yourself more room to play softer when the thematic material recurs in the upper octave? Just curious. Thanks

I find that the third movement was very rushed, otherwise fantastic!

focuses on accompanists, not the soloist... lol
@lepoon62679 жыл бұрын
if you were even somewhat musically capable, you would know that there is only one accompanist (the other person is there to turn the page)
@jeffreysbrother9 жыл бұрын
Herp McDerp two questions: what makes you think he's talking about the page-turner, and why the hostility?
@Jaewoongzzang9 жыл бұрын
Lawrence Poon i would like to say that that was a typo. also, i would like to say that i AM musically "capable" as is every other person on this world to some level. If you wanted specifics, i can play the clarinet to RCM level of 10. and i don't think you actually got the point of the comment. it was to say the camera focused on the accompanist and not on the soloist himself, not to say there were two accompanists. I'm pretty sure you aren't dumb enough to understand what i meant, so please, that sort of hostility is completely unnecessary.

+Warlock Hwang In this beautiful Sonata, as in many chamber music duos, the 'soloist' and the 'accompanist' are really equal musical partners. It would be better described as a duet for clarinet and piano, rather than a clarinet solo with piano accompaniment. It therefore makes sense to give both performers equal attention, as this video does. Both are superb musicians.

David B true... but i felt like since it IS a carinet Sonata, therefore slightly more focused on the clarinet than the piano, I found it kind of useless to have the camera on the pianist basically the whole time... just my opinion on the camera angle, but music-wise, they are both really talented.... I'm just being really picky tbh :P

As a 9th grader I did the whole piece. The first and second movements aren't hard, but the fourth gets a little tricky.
