Little details like this is what makes a game truly brilliant. You can just feel the immersion. You can actually feel like you're doing stuff. This is back when developers actually cared about details, immersion, enjoyment, and most importantly, quality. Instead of how many loot boxes they could fit in. Or how much money they can wrench out. This is true quality. Edit: For those who want to be a stickler, let me finish my thoughts. So many games come out with unfulfilled promises, broken mechanics, glitches everywhere, as of recently super grindy, and they overall just feel soulless. There's an overall decrease in gaming quality. Obviously, this does not apply for every game and company. No, I'm not saying every single game comes out horrible and full of micro transactions. Just wanted to specifically say this for those who can't / couldn't understand what I meant.

Oh, i guess i left out the last bit of my thoughts and created some confusion. My Problem with developers isn't just loot boxes and money grubbing. It's the fact that nowadays the overall quality of games sunk. I see game breaking bugs and broken mechanics 24/7 in darn near every new game i play. Yes certain companies like EA rush their developers all the time before a game is actually complete, but are you really telling me that's the case for every single company? Even when they update to "fix" certain bugs(if ever) the bugs practically never get fixed, half the time get worse or flat out create more. You're telling me this is only on the top brass? You can tell there's a sense of complacency even in the developers.

Few other details from SR2 from the top of my head: 1. Almost every number on every billboard/wall or anything can be called thru the phone. 2. Idling in different locations will cause you to make different animations (for example in the graveyard you take a knee down). 3. The lighthouses work. 4. During night/bad weather/wrath of god cheat, i dont remember, the distant unreachable islands flash lights. 5. The npc's will take pictures of you beating someone up. 6. Npc's do unique stuff like gardening, lifeguarding etc etc. 7. Idling in the menu will trigger a cool backstory video to start playing. 8. Radio news change over the story. 9. You can visit Shogo's grave. 10. The loading screen pictures change as the story progresses. 11. Radio station names change over certain events.

This is why I prefer the first 2 games to the newer entries. It's these little details that make the first 2 games that much more enjoyable. I always loved the randomized NPCs during cutscenes, and cutscenes running off the in game engine's weather and time of day. As nice as the new engine was, they really lost a lot of the small details that made the city feel alive. NPCs in the first 2 games would actually do unique stuff instead of just wandering aimlessly on the sidewalk. Steelport being a boring city was bad enough. Plus I don't understand how they couldn't implement a day/night cycle in the 3rd game. It honestly pains me to see how some people just dismiss the 1st Saints Row game; such an underrated game that deserves more love.

We all know in SR2 that after Veteran Child dies, 89.0 Generation X becomes 89.0 Ultor FM. That’s not the only station they buy though. Halfway through completing the game, Ultor buys 105.0 Ezzzy FM and turns it into 105.0 The World FM. The music genre changes from easy listening to world music, and the DJ becomes depressed and openly rebels against Ultor taking over, telling people to boycott the station.

One of the most amazing details was the different numbers on the roofs of the police cars because it actually felt like different Stillwater police units were being dispatched after the player instead of police cars with no numbers I also loved the swat helicopter that came after you at 4 stars with the searchlight it made the police chases feel more realistic even though both games were very comical and slapstick like destroy all humans 1 and 2 the Stillwater police department is also based off the NYPD

Two personal favorites of mine are that in one VK mission, your team actually switches to the Vice Kings, another is that aside from mission critical dialogue, there are tons of others that use context (i.e. what mission you’re on) for stuff that would otherwise be general instances. The same mission is a prime example: Colliding with a vehicle with Johnny Gat: “You did that to make the Vice Kings look bad, right?” Or even walking by a fellow Saint: “You better hope Julius doesn’t see you wearing that.” (Maybe this is general based on you wearing a yellow shirt?)

Hmm... I just think about it what if gangs missions would do by chronological way(not with 1 gang). Saints Row 1. Vice Kings 1-2 missions. That makes sense because Johnny and Aisha called you a new guy. Rollerz 1-4. Lin always calls(after 4 mission) and says you need to meet her. VKs 3-4. By the end Johnny says you can meet him but not now. Carnales 1 mission. Vice Kings 5-6. In this Johnny will rest a while and have a time to heal his leg. Carnales 2-9. By church Johnny wasn't there and Playa and Dex will a little stop. Vice Kings 7-10. Rollerz 5-9. Carnales 10 Vice Kings 11 Vice Kings right end because it will be strange why King does not go until we beat other 2. Saints Row 2. Brotherhood 1. Carlos calls you and says Maero want to meet you. Samedi 1. Ronin 1-2. Samedi 2-4. Ronin 3-4. In that time Johnny in hospital and that's reason why is he not on other mission. Samedi 5-6. Ronin 5. Brotherhood 3-6. Samedi 7-10. After that the only thing is wait until General shows up. Ronin 6-10. Playa says if Ronin will come back he will be ready. So that's again waiting. Brotherhood 7-11. Samedi 11. Ronin 11.
