Use bloodflame talon to open then follow up with furious blade. Bloodflame talons explosion will hide the animation of your attack.

I feel like my main takeaway here is that Furious Blade of Ansbach is the hard counter to the extremely powerful meta option of using Black Flame Tornado as a neutral opener from two yards away

I've spent a lot of time trying to make this spell as viable as possible and made two videos on it. You'll see you can do some crazy things with it and ways to make it connect. But all in all I agree with Saint, it's just a cool spell and that's it. All it needs to make it godlike is either some hyper armor, faster cast time or longer reach.

All it took for me to like Ansbach was him calling the player "righteous" and it's not that he just compliments you but he says it with sincerity. And he doesn't sit around bad mouthing the others, he might serve a guy who lives in a blood swamp hell world and looks like a demon but Ansbach is alright with me

If anything, the DLC strengthened mid level builds to deal with these OL babysitting powerhouses. I have a 40 that I ran through the DLC with and it’s samurai starter. Radagon soreseal, Millicent, and curseblade mask give me all the dex I need without touching it, which is 30. After that, I just pumped vig and sprinkled into endurance. 46 vig, 20 end, 17 str, and 30 dex. I have a lightning slash GK and I’m cleaning up liurnia of these babysitters with a comfortable 1606 health pool.

"if you want it to be". like, it isn't good on its own and won't play it for you (carian slicer, og stars of ruin, moonveil, comet), nor is it a total trainwreck that isn't worth even casting (... mantle of thorns), but if you learn how to incorporate it as another attack in your arsenal, it can be a good addition and can compliment a build. i could see this being a wonderful distance closing addition to a large weapon build, and it seems to compliment light greatswords very well (i think your uncharged heavy rollcatches if you land a charged Ansblade?) i like that, i'll give it a shot.

Man, Elden Ring really is the best for invaders in a low key way. There's a lot of potential for getting blendered which kinda sucks, but the potential to do cool stuff is much higher. And at the end of the day isn't that what we're here for? in life!?

I mean, it makes sense. The general approach to PvP for spells is that the more versatile and reliable it is, the better. There are plenty of spells that are in neutral and they’re unfortunately what everything else has to compete with for a spell slot in pvp.
