Southampton beat Birmingham City 3-1, sinking Rooney who still looks for his first win in charge.
A seven-and-a-half hour round trip and a midday kickoff, thank you to ever who arranged that.
The starting 11 wasn’t to be optimistic about.
Stansfield who’s been electric since joining but hasn’t hit the ground running with Rooney and was benched against the Saints.
The home side took an early advantage, Harwood-Bellis nodded in his first goal in red.
With Carlos Alcaraz adding a second 12 minutes later from close range.
The team were booed off again at half time.
The fans clearly not holding back in venting their frustrations.
Rooney made some changes, bringing Stansfield on for Dembele who was struggling.
And his impact was instant.
A ball in over the top and the young Fulham loanee latched onto lash the ball into the back of the net.
Despite a decent spell, the Saint’s front man was clinical in the box, wrapping up the three points for the St. Mary’s faithful.
Another disappointing afternoon, Rooney did come over and clap the supporters and received some appreciation.
Wins are needed however. Which may be an issue with Ipswich and Sunderland approaching.
Fingers crossed we can pull something out the hat.
Thanks for watching.
Keep Right On 💙
