Im tired of talking bout the offense. KC is a defensive team now. They proved it last year and they're proving it again this year. They got the best defensive coach in the league top 3 at worse. Chris Jones is the best d-lineman, the linebacker room is top 5, and Trent McDuffie deserves to be in the convo for best corner in the league. As long as the offense is average they the favorites

I agree with you on the defense. I would like for the media to tell the truth about Patrick. Patrick is playing better than he gets credit for. Since the season started Taylor the right tackle and whoever they have at left tackle has ruined his numbers just last night touchdown to Gray but wait Taylor on the hold so not only is the touchdown gone you're 10 yards in the hole. How many big plays have you all seen ruined by poorest tackles in the league?

KC's facing a lot of shell coverage, and defenses are getting better at disguising them. To take advantage, KC needs to become a better running team. They're working on it. Getting positive yards on the ground, almost no matter what, is huge, for them. Getting the extra yards at the end of the play with extra push from the O-Line and the big, strong backs... In a similar situation, New England went big. Running AND passing out of extra TE sets and tackle-eligible sets. Teams had to respect the run threats, and that morphed into 4 or 5 unmolested seconds for Tom Brady to find Randy Moss, 30 or 40 yards down the field. The thing they did for Brady over their run was give him more time to survey the field than they were giving the opposing QB. But they also had really strong running threats. I think KC's close to rounding-out that offense. If they want to get better at passing, they need to get better at running. They're close. I'm guardedly optimistic that it'll gel by December. The amazing thing is how good they've been playing, even though the offense hasn't clicked, yet. I think Mahomes's "struggles" are downstream of what they're trying to do on the ground. They just brought Jody Fortson to the 53. 4th TE. Good. They need to find ways to run and throw out of the 3- and 4-TE sets. That could be the missing ingredient.

Pat Mahomes himself says he is NOT happy with his own play and how he in ways has to start over with building new chemistry and trust in new offensive players. That is not him saying that the players that are the other WR’s or RB’s or his protection to the left that is lacking, is their fault. It is just a logical statement. They needed to strengthen the offense in the off season. And Brown, Rice, Pacheco & Worthy was the plan, and the group he practised with during the summer. He knew he did not want to look from his standards, bad on the offense again, or putting alot of burden on the defense to carry them to the chances where the winning mentality and his strength can give them close wins when they matter the most. He simply did not want to be in that position again. But now he is with these injuries. So I don’t even see him caring about getting a regular season MVP as it is now, why even pretend he is close to that right now? He is not playing with the ”wow factor” it usuqlly takes to win MVP, it is more grind and not at all,perfect right now. He has to focus on getting better to the playoffs and if in the SB, get the MVP there. As it looks now, why not leave the talk about MVP for the regular season to players like Lamar or maybe CJ again. And rightfully so. Nothing wrong with it when you know you are trying to ”work with what you got” on the offense when all the plans from pre season go out the window in just a few weeks. And slowly build confidence in the red zone to get TD’s instead of field goals, with what you’ve got.

When Tom Brady didn't have Moss, Welker, Edelman, Evans, or Godwin, he was able to do just enough with the receivers he did have to win games and championships on the back of a great defense. The only difference is that was in the first phase of his career rather than the second, so whereas it would've been way too early to call Brady the GOAT during that phase of his career because we hadn't yet seen anything else from him besides the game-manager role, we've already seen Mahomes win Super Bowls both ways: in 2019 and 2022 with high-flying offenses, and last year with the defense leading the way. He shouldn't be the MVP if the team continues to play this way, but he would, and should, definitely be in the GOAT conversation if they threepeat with this receiving corps and he has even decent numbers (akin to last year's 4,000+ yards and 27-14 TD-INT).

It's fairly well known the MVP voters gave it to the kicker as a slap in the face to the players because they were on strike that season.
