Oscar Piastri mastered the Baku chaos to win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as McLaren took the lead of the constructors’ championship. A dramatic penultimate lap crash for Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz saw George Russell inherit a shock podium, behind Charles Leclerc in second. Lando Norris recovered well, as Max Verstappen’s suffered further issues.

Just because you’ve taken the same racing line before I didn’t mean to say that you can always do that, especially when there’s a car at the side of you

Oscar was simply unflappable. It reminded me of Ricciardo's win in Monaco. Well done Oscar.

Way better, consistent and mature than the imp Lando. He should be ML #1 Driver.

No one is superior drivers man! U idiots act as if both Ferrari and McLaren are on similar standards. And as if Piastri pulled this win out of his ass. Ferrari is clearly a step below McLaren car and Ferrari playing catch up here. Best win is Monza win where the superior team and car lost due to strategy.

Still legal, although I imagine the FIA might alter the regs for next season to make sure they don't flex as much under the loads on track, rather just the static load test.

I guess Max did not deserve that penalty in Austria after all. No friggin consistency not even from the media. Kudos to Oscar, brilliant race.

Oscar won on Race Craft, as he would have in Hungary. The Checco / Sainz incident was just that, a racing incident. Sad though because Checco drove a great race, but 4th was probably the best he could have hoped for. The RB is just not the car to challenge at the front. Lando's and Lewis' recovery drives were brilliant. Lando's more so as he finished ahead of Max. This has been a Baku that has sort of redeemed street races for me - generally I despise them with this generation of cars. I would have loved to see Prost, Mansell, Senna race here, would have been sublime.

does anyone realise Leclerc is 20 points behind lando, and Oscar is 30 points behind lando... who is 60 points behind Max...with about 220 points still up for grabs. If lando has a crappy race or a DNF oscar and Leclerc are right in the fight. Max could be saved by the others closing and taking points off each other until he gets a decent car again IF he does

Any racer that dwells on the "what ifs" for very long will self-destruct. FOMA is so crippling no matter the activity. As an arm-chair observer, your hyperboles "chaotic finish" hardly rises close to AUS '23, and underscoring NORL to "rue" another missed opportunity is just destabilizing to his fragile mental health.
@cococalm
@cococalm 11 күн бұрын
Yeah, this was not a "chaotic" finish by any stretch, unfortunate for some perhaps, but certainly not chaotic. Lando finishing ahead of MV with fastest lap is still 3 more than MV. It is a confidence boost for hims either way. At the end of the day, there are still more than 200 points up for grabs, Norris is only 59 points behind MV. It is still all to play for.

@@kondjanegongo796 - In real terms, if MV gets one more victory, I think it is tickets for this year. Then next year, LN will have OP to contend with which, as things are going now, strongly favours OP. RB won't have a dominant car next year, I think their time has come and gone. Ferrari is a surprise package ... it either works or it does not .... consistency is their Archilles heel .... always has been. And then the emergence of Aston when the Newey upgrades will start to make their effects shown. ( Alonso will deffo get his 33rd next year . Seems unlikely this year ). I am eagerly awaiting the upgrades next year, especially the ones coming in May and just after the summer break ... a window into '26 for sure.
