Special Intros of The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match.
NOTES
- Benimaru's special intro are with pretty women. Including Orochi Leona. (Beni really likes 'em wild! XD)
- Kim's "Aku wa yurusan!" which in English means "Evil is unforgiveable!" "Hah!" is against any evil type opponent.
- Leona's "You cannot win" intro is against "hopeless" characters she believes has no chance of winning.
- Chizuru's special intro is aimed at characters related to the Orochi. The only exceptions are Orochi Leona and Orochi Iori where she doesn't have a special intro. She has a special intro with Kyo and Iori since they're a part of the Sacred Treasure Team along with herself.
- Shermie & Orochi Shermie's special intro is aimed at "handsome" men. Kim and Benimaru are in the previous intros.
- Yamazaki's special intro is aimed at characters related to the Orochi. On this version he doesn't preform the intro against Mature, Vice, Orochi Leona, Orochi Iori, himself, Geonitz, and Orochi. In KoF 2002 and 2002 UM he does perform his special intro against all Orochi related characters including himself.
- The New Face Team or Orochi Team's special intro with their own teammates are the same regardless if they're in there Orochi version or not.
- Wolfgang Krauser's special intro is aimed at characters from FF2 and FFS.

Once you know the stories behind all the characters and their respective franchises, those intros are enjoyable and amazing in their way. KOF 98 is a special game, a precious one. I believe candidates for best competitive 2d fighter have a combination of balance, gameplay and watchability. *Balance* - Every character should be playable with a roughly equal chance to win. Nobody wants to watch the same characters over and over. *Gameplay* - The gameplay should be accommodating to a variety of players and play styles, even at high levels. This is where MOTW utterly destroys 3rd Strike. Capcom generally makes more accommodating games, but SNK games generally have more diversity. *Watchability* - Matches should be exciting to watch. Art should be beautiful. Animation should be fluid, diverse and plentiful. Attacks should not be repetitious. I would argue that _this_ is where 3rd Strike excels. I mean really _really_ excels! I would also argue this is where games like KOF98/UM and 2k2UM edge out MOTW. Some of the older fighters suffer in the art department (Samurai Shodown series; Fatal Fury series), or lack the necessary polish to give their animation impact (Guilty Gear series; Last Blade series; NGBC; Capcom vs. SNK 1/2), and some of the newer fighters are just too repetitious (Capcom's 'versus' series; KOF series post '98). KOF98 has been a candidate for best competitive 2d fighter for over a decade now and KOF98UM only improves upon that candidacy. I would argue that KOF98UM is more balanced and watchable than 2k2UM, and it probably has better gameplay as well. *_Based on the above criteria, what game do you think qualifies as the best competitive 2d fighter?_*

Iori's fine, as he has one of the 3 sacred treasures that had defeated Orochi. He just made a pact with Orochi to upgrade his (and his clan's) flames so they can defeat their rivals, whose leader, Kyo, holds another sacred treasure, while Chizuru herself has the third one. Also, the intro you're talking about only happens with Orochi FOLLOWERS. When Chizuru faces Orochi ITSELF, she immediately gives herself a blessing so she can easily defeat and seal the snake god.
