Overall helpful review, I was just a bit stunned how clumsy and rough you were while handling the stick and throttle.

Excellent video mate, thanks. Deeply appreciated your review and loved that you showed every detail of both parts. It was really useful for me trying to decide on my purchase.

This was excellent, really helped me decide between the pro and std versions. Went with the Standard, doesn't seem to be enough difference to make the extra $100 worth it for the pro.
@aidanshelton44914 жыл бұрын
You asked for some recommendations and such so here goes. When coming in for an approach, square up to the runway wayyyyy further back and reduce the throttle to about 25 percent until your almost to the runway, then cut it. Other than that, (and the smoke detector of course) nice video.

Good Review, do you know how the X52 fares againt the Pro version?
@AviationXPlane11 жыл бұрын
I have both and I have been using the X-52 for about 6 months now and encountered no issues, the only thing is that the thrust lever material can peel if you don't use it carefully but this is avoidable. I have only ever experienced one lapse in control of the aircraft during flight, but it required a little calibration and everything was fine again. If you want to opt a better built stick try the Saitek X-52 Pro. But so far no issues, it is well built and a fantastic stick to fly with.:-D

Riddick uses these contols at the very end of his latest movie. They're the flight controls for a space ship lol. Cracked me up when i saw them. Hey, if they're good enough for Riddick they're good enough for anyone :D Feel free to use that Mad Catz

I really like the way you set up the camera to show the product, not like how others made it of their entire desk setting. If you had more experience, this is a great way to film reviews in my opinion.

If you don't mind me pointing something out, I think you may be overlooking a feature of the throttle. Other reviews I've seen have suggested that the stiffness near the bottom of the throttle range is actually for reverse thrust. Same with the top, where it kicks into WEP/afterburner. Perhaps you already know this, but I figured I'd point it out just in case.

Awesome WTF moment when the screen blacked out. 😅 I would suggest disabling screen saver in future projects. Also would have been nice if you showed us how the height gets adjusted, and what it looks like... It would help make your review more complete by looking at every detail. Otherwise thanks for the review.

I have had this x52 now for about 6 or more years ...and with year + non use. Just firing it up now under windows 8.1 pro and it still works just fine. So the quality in that respect is very good. My biggest gripe with the x52 is the very low tension in the joystick ...it requires almost no force to move the joystick. This plus lack of flight sims, these days, is why it does get a lot of shelf time. But it sure looks great!
@RedStarSQD2 жыл бұрын
Wow. I totally don't remember watching this video and commenting on it. I have corrected forgetting to like the video now.... 8 years later! Sorry :) I have just taken this thing off the shelf to try it again and fix the tension. My z axis is all over the place so seeing there is a disable z rotation button in this video could be game changing :))

tnx 4 posting. i like the looks of ur set up :) the thing is,,, all reviews for this joystick r pretty much the same? everybody explains how the buttons work,, but i KNOW how a button works :) what i would like to know,,,,, how does ur airplane KNOW ur using a Saitek X52? Does ur airplane program jst automaticcally recognize it? did u have to program the X52 within the airplane program? did u use Saitek software to tell the airplane u have an X52? i mean, when u use the Hat-Button to look around outside the airplane,,, how does the airplane know?
@ShadeAKAhayate10 жыл бұрын
The trick is: it _does not_. Sometimes the game can detect the device and load a profile for it, or just have a preset profile for it which can be loaded manually -- but it's all irrelevant since often you use several devices (like HOTAS set + pedals or car wheel/pedals) and the game will surely fail to understand what goes where. Saitek SST does not tell the game anything. Yet it can be used to make joystick do virtual "keyboard" keypresses instead of "joystick button" presses and thus if you know the keybinds for different functions in-game, you can make a profile for the game outside of the game itself. OR you can try to find a suitable profile for your game or aircraft (in case of DCS or BoS). Without SST you'll have to assign the joystick keys in the game's controls section. But it's way easier, universal and "controls-reset-to-defaults-with-a-new-patch"-safe if you use SST. And if you intend fly some serious sims like DCS/A-10C or DCS/Ka-50, SST is way easier to understand than operation procedures of the chosen aircraft =)

Hey Great review. Plenty of info thanks. This joystick combo looks great. I have read a few bad reviews on the programmable software that's comes with it. What do you think of the software, do you rate it? Also would you say its easy and able to play other games. In particular Space sims? Thanks again for the review, and any help.

I cannot stand having the rudder on the stick. I will stick with my X-45. It is similar in almost every way to this stick, but the rudder is a rocket on the front of the throttle. I was looking to buy a new stick for Star Citizen, but I think I will wait. The X-55 looked promising, but it too had the rudder on the stick. And, the stick itself is cheaply made. I really just wanted more buttons, so I think I will just look for some sort of game pad type thing. I saw one once that was for flight Sims. It was just a square, with a bunch keyboard type buttons on it. The keys were also backlit. I think I will try to find that, and stick with my X-45.
