Many thanks for the continued support and feed-back to the show . As well as breaking down Arsenal's 3-1 victory ; the changes that Arteta made in the team ; our counter press and how we turned it around second half , James & I discuss our star-boy Bukayo Saka ; how he is taking responsibility in more than one way on the pitch . Inevitably , we debate the world class tag . We welcome your thoughts on this . And i will be happy to answer any football or Arsenal related questions ? Regards Graham - AFTV

@Abc123ert564 күн бұрын
It's not even just that. It's the fact his career could reach his mid 30's at Arsenal, he takes good care of himself, he's extremely versatile and once he loses his pace he can go central either in midfield or up top. He's going to win a load of trophies and likely be Arsenal captain while doing it. His legacy could be legendary. The fact he could break the Premier League assist record this season is incredible at just 23
@mknxplore2 күн бұрын
One thing I would like to see Saka improve is his aerial abilities, I haven’t seen enough of it. Maybe because of his position, but R7 was successful on all wings, his header, free kicks, and central role. Saka’s hero is R7, I think we need to encourage him to get closer to his R7. He is consistent, has abilities to be world class, world class? Maybe 70% for me!

Saka is our most important player. He was carrying us under Emery and early parts of MA's tenure. Many fans will move on to the latest and greatest additions to our team but for me and apparently Arteta as well, Saka is Mr. Arsenal.
@coolerdude423 күн бұрын
1 thing about Saka that his Assists numbers illustrate: he's getting more unpredictable. At this point, every team knows how Saka plays: he gets the ball on the right, he shimmies down the right a little more, then cuts in to his left to shoot. He is lethal with that shot, which is precisely why EVERY leftback (and usually a 2nd marker) guards specifically against that specific cut. Its his signature move and everybody knows it. This became a problem in certain games where he was quiet. The heavy reliance on Arsenals right side last season exacerbated this. He was still phenomenal last season btw which is a real testament to Saka's huge huge talent despite every defender knowing what to defend against. These Assist numbers though show that Saka is presenting a huge problem to defenders: yeah you can guard against his most lethal finish, but he can also put 1 in and let another player score through different ways. He's sooo effective at it. His set pieces are also more accurate and consistent now (moreso than Rice has been this season). This makes him much much harder to mark. Definitely gone up another level this season.
@Graham_Brooks13 күн бұрын
Jay Many thanks for your kind words and for raising an interesting subject I cant speak for James , but Arteta has set the team free tactically this season and we are seeing that in the roles of the full backs and how play is built around that. Declan Rice is playing as a quarter back , so he is often either between the centre halves in our first phase of play or drifting out into that LB spot that you mentioned , enabling Calafiori to come inside as we build from our 4-2-4 to the 3-2-5 As Calafiori starts to roam , there is that box that develops on the left hand side of Rice, Calafiori , Trossard and Martinelli Once Merino is fully integrated into the team in the left sided 8 role , you may see Declan play more deeper as a 6 where those out of possession qualities that he has that you mentioned are fully utilised However under Mikel the team is so fluid in possession that every player can rotate and be comfortable where -ever they stand on the pitch. It's funny sometimes, when you remember something differently to how it happened and you can feel so certain it was one way, when really, it was another. It happens to me sometimes. Saliba 100% got a touch on that Cameron Archer shot- a small one, but just enough to direct it's path perfectly into the corner, out of reach of Raya. Unlucky for them. I think sometimes they have so much faith in their ability that their positioning and reactions seem casual or unbothered. Id like to see Calafiori give wingers a little more respect so he can still use the defensive angle if they try to take him line. He and Saliba are fast but not infallibly so

Great show as always, James and Graham - thank you. However, I have one suggestion: can we please forget the whole conversation about whether Saka (or any other Arsenal player) is world class. It's completely irrelevant and is only "a thing" because one or two pundits have suggested he's not. These are partisan arguments but FFS, I don't care how others perceive our players. I'm just happy to see Saka and most other Arsenal players keep producing the performances that win games, and hopefully the title. Arsenal fans know that players like Saka, Saliba, Gabriel and Odegard are among the best in their position across the world game and it's OK to be proud of that but I feel it's unnecessary to make that point to fans of other teams. Let them say Saka isn't top-notch, and let us watch him help us win the league. After that they may have a different assessment.

I think Calafiori more technical and more progress with the ball compared to Rice, while Rice has i think more pace and more defensive IQ and experience in PL. I feel like Rice's best qualities of (winning the ball back/being a destroyer) arent being utilized this season so far and i think he pick up the short comings that Calafiori is having at moment. I also think Calafiori will come good regardless its just going to take a little time he's young and in experienced but definitely a player. Be interested to hear the thoughts of you experts !!!
