Not much help in an electric sewing machine when you live in a tent without electricity… 🤗 The most important thing right now, is to get her a home, and the home should have electricity, so she will be able to sew at home if she should wish to. Then she could do whatever she needs to do in order to raise funds for sewing machines, tables, pro steam iron/table. I looked around a little, and a Jack brand straightstitch sewing machine can be bought on Aliexpress for about $430. But she would also need a topstitcher and/or an overlocker, which would at least cost as much each. I think she would need at least around $2,000 altogether and then she would NOT buy any fancy machinery whatsoever, but rather the most cheap available, maybe even used. She would also need a good loupe/magnifying glass with light, she has to be able to thread needles etc. herself, if she is to sew at home. Another possibility for her to do to work from home, is to weave/knot rugs, which she obviously is very skilled at. But that would need a room for the loom, it takes quite a bit of space. But it does not really need electricity, though it should have el for good lighting, as that is VERY important. Also, it would take quite a while to get paid, I would think. BTW, when I suggested Razia start a sewing studio, the person at her channel said sewing paid so poorly. But anyways she is sewing now… She is not sewing that much though, she is using a manual machine, if that should be used over time, I think it would have to have a pedal drive, not hand crank, as it would cause strain and inflammation, it can’t possibly be good for the shoulders of the seamstress over time!!! I would not recommend it. Professionals around a 70-100 years ago here used pedal drives for a reason, they did not use hand crank all day!

No, she has not worn them since they were bought. She has worn other clothes and changed into these probably 3 days ago and then they looked clean. Still too long though. But living like they do, one must expect her to get more dirty than people living in a proper house. I don’t get why Sakineh didn’t find clean clothes for her when they were going to the doctor though… SMH Not normal! And Ghazaleh is brushing her clothes all the time, she obviously do not like dirty clothes. She should be taught to wash her clothes, so she can do it herself and don’t have to rely on her mom…

How do you know that she has a sense of fashion? I can’t see that she has shown us anything like that. To run a fashion business, she has to have skills as a designer etc. As I see it, we have only seen her sew technically what was already cut and made ready for stitching. She seems like a real good seamstress. That doesn’t necessarily mean she can run her own fashion business. That would also mean that she had to have skills as a business owner, we don’t know how that is for her either. I think she should focus on getting a home with electricity first, then, if she wants to, she can work on saving up money or raise money (ask for donations etc.) for what she needs in order to run a sewing studio where she could take on sewing tasks. Then she would need tables, chairs, a pro steam iron, a pro sewing machine, an overlocker and a topstitcher (I think they may call them something else now, interlocker or something like that, not sure). She would need at least $2,000 (for cheap or used or a mix).

She does not have machinery, she does not have a home to sew in! And she for sure does not have a table or chair to be sewing at. Sewing on the floor with a borrowed hand crank machine is not something Sakineh should be doing, IMO! She would end out with health problems because of it and then she wouldn’t be able to sew even at the studio - so that is really not a good idea!!! When she has a house or apartment, she can work to save up money for machines (or ask the viewers to give her donations to pay for them, if she wants a sewing machine and a top stitcher and/or overlocker of professional quality (like at the studio she works now), as well as a pro steam iron and table, it will cost a lot of money - even in Iran!!! (PS! Funny that they don’t sew using a Juki machine, but a very similar looking one named Jack, must be local Iranian machinery 😂).

Ghazaleh should get some small leftover fabric to make something from. Maybe she could sew some needle cushions for the wrist, if she makes many, she can sell them on the market later!!! Those can be made hand sewn, which will help her develop her sewing skills. Even if she may not want to work as a seamstress, she can use the skills in every day life (or as a hobby), being able to sew is very useful!!! She can take it home with her also at first, so Sakineh can show her after work time. The needle cushions should be filled with SAND, as that sharpens the needles (and it is free!!! There’s plenty of good quality sand on the mountain after the house building. She can probably even sieve it so she uses super fine sand).

I have a family electronic sewing and embroidery machine, an overlay machine, two irons, and a 10-needle embroidery machine). Thank you for the idea of the sand-filled needle cushion that sharpens. 😉 My grandmother (whose father was a tailor) had one, I always wondered why. It was like a pillow.

Sakineh: You should ask the doctor if Ghazaleh is likely to be able to infect your co-workers or customers at the sewing studio and for how long you need to keep Ghaz out of there. You could also make a mask for Ghazaleh to wear in there too, until she is 100% again. The home sewn masks are so much more comfortable to wear than the disposable ones! Also, you should tell your boss that YOU cannot infect her or customers with anything, because your illness is in the stomach, reflux of acid irritate your throat and causes you to cough, you do not suffer from any kind of respiratory infection - so there is no need for her to worry!!! I don’t know why you didn’t tell her when she said you shouldn’t come because both of you are sick… PS! Seems to me that every time one of the nomads take their kids in for a cold or something like that, they give them IV fluids of some sort. Do you know what they gave Ghaz now? Just fluid (like Ringer solution or «salt water»?), a vitamin IV or what? Feel better soon, both Sakineh and Ghazaleh!!! ❤❤❤

I think that if she wants to be respected, she at least needs to contribute with working every day herself. She needs to tell the lady at the studio that her cough is from reflux, which for sure is not contagious, so the lady does not need to worry (she didn’t say anything when she said «you’re both sick, you can come back when you’re healthy again»). She can let Ghaz be home alone until she is OK, she’s just having a cold or something like that, I think, she does not really seem sick, and just had a little dry cough, maybe it’s just caused by all the dust where they live? 😉). Anyways, Sakineh needs to go and sew and possibly also knot/weave rugs which she is very skilled at too - and make some money to contribute to her own living expenses and investments if she wants to make her own workplace!!! Just asking people online to pay for her, is not fair!!!
