I have a Sako Delux Vixen in .223 in skip checkered blond French walnut from 1970s and more recently a Tikka Tac 1a in 6.5 Creedmore, they are both super accurate, my only regret is I didn’t buy another Sako Delux in .243 Win. back when they were still making them in the 70s.

Got a Sako 85 222 Stainless laminate about 2 years ago. Its seriously out of this world accurate. I did replace the trigger spring with a YoDave spring at $10. Which made that trigger even better. You can Save the $10 and find a Parker pen spring to fit in the trigger.

I had a Sako Vixen in .222REM, the best rifle I've ever had or likely to have.

I had that same rifle mate. It was the most accurate rifle I had ever owned. I reloaded 22 magnum hollow points and I could constantly shoot 3 rounds in the same hole at 100 yards. Amazing accuracy, I shot a long necked critter at 180 yards through the neck, 4"

@@thorout8377 Head shooting rabbits at 250 yards was my best effort but I did head shoot a duck at 100 yards, I wanted the meat. The old rock method of cooking might have worked better than baking.

Excellent video, thank you for it. I’m just curious though can you use a varmint rifle like this for deer and elk hunting? The reason why I ask is because I like the look of this rifle but I’m not sure if the varmint rifle is different from a hunting version of the same caliber?
@wolflahti4123 жыл бұрын
The only real difference between a "standard" hunting rifle and a varmint model is the varmint has a heavier barrel. Varmint hunting typically involves multiple shots over a short period of time, and a heavy-weight barrel will have less deviation in from heating up. When hunting whitetails or elk, one hopes to get away with a single shot (or at least not a lot of shooting in a short time), so barrel heat-up is not a consideration. Hunters choose not to carry a varmint rifle because of weight; a Sako Varmint will run 8 to 9 pounds whereas a wood-stock rifle such as te Bavarian, Classic, or Hunter runs 7 pounds and a synthetic or composite closer to 6. Those ounces can seem like a lot if you're lugging your weapon over any distance. It should be said, too, that the deviation in accuracy from a hot versus a cool barrel is largely insignificant under 200 yards.

I wouldn't focus so much on the rifle, but much more is the calibre enough for an incapasitating shot?( We mostly hunt with 308+ in Finland, so that is the basis of the question)
@frufru00712 жыл бұрын
@@watata1t In your opinion, is the sight-setup of a Tikka Arctic (.308) worth paying an extra $1200.00 over the T3x CTRL. Have you used the Arctic? Forgive me for presuming that you’ve had the opportunity. I can get a laminate stock from Boyd’s for $250 but those Sights at least LOOK to be incredibly fun.

Have a 30-06 in Synthetic Black. Total failure in ejection. 90% of the ejected cases hit the bottom of the scope and dent the case mouth. The cases hit the scope and fall back in the chamber. For the cost of these guns they should be flawless. Don’t expect any help from the Sako rep. They’ll only tell you that the rifle works according to how it was designed. I’ll never get another Sako again.
