The question about what the song is about is pretty self explanatory. It's about graduating and throwing a party because of it so nobody gets sad, even though maybe a friend is leaving. Real school graduations are super emotional in Japan and it's probably not especially rare that everyone cries. They put their all into school and a lot of students (I'd even say most) really enjoy these years, sometimes to the point they call it the best years of their lives. Probably also because they know what awaits them in the "real world" after school. The part with the hug is kind of a tradition at the graduation show. Every year a student hugs a senior at that part of the song. That year it was Sugisaki Nene who thanked Su for everything she did for her and that she loved her ("Su-chan, ima made arigatou, daisuki da). She was probably closest to Su (judging from the material I've seen from 2012 nendo), not counting Moa and Yui. Nene is the one who wanted to be a nurse after high school.

While Su was the only senior in that year, there was one other girl who "graduated" that night. Mariri Sugimota (the tall girl who looked like she was about to cry the first time you paused) was only a sixth-grader, and as I understand, she couldn't get used to the long travel from her home to Tokyo to participate in SG. So rather than her just leaving, she was allowed to "graduate". She does modeling now and has a Instagram. Also, the girl who said something to Su and hugged her (Nene Sugisaki). That's not a normal part of the song, and unless I'm mistaken, that's the only time an SG girl has gone "off-script" during a song.

from what i have heard/read, the main reason why Mariri graduated early was that she wanted to strictly focus on her modeling career; but the travel time might have been a big factor as well!

The "off-script" part is a "tradition" in this song. Every year someone hugs a senior at the graduation show in that part of the song. Well, except 2020 because they weren't allowed to touch each other. Oh, and in 2014 nendo IIRC Moa and Yui give each other a hug at that part.

Yui Mizuno and Ooga Saki were the ones down in front. And yes both were shedding tears at that time. Ooga Saki joined SG because of Su, who was her favorite idol. They got to spend 1 year together which made Saki really sad. But Saki went on to be a big part of SG. I had always hoped Saki would be asked to replace Yui but Saki's modeling career was just taking off. Ooga Saki was always one of my favorites in SG. Ooga Saki was also known as Baby-chan.

When are you going to break down (literally) and go with the full last 29 minutes of Su's graduation ceremony. I call it the "humanity test" because if you can make it through that without tearing up, you are not human. Come on....... go for it. I'm 56 years old, former military, been through 3 wars and a "humanitarian mission" involving skinny people with AK47's trying to shoot you, spent 6 years living in a country with an active communist insurgency who were actively hunting Americans, worked Death Row at a maximum security prison for 2 years.... I've seen the worst the world has to offer so I am not exactly an emotional lightweight.... and I start tearing up at the first notes of the first song at that graduation... because I am human. :) There is a fully subbed version of it.... including the speeches, where the heart strings are not as much "tugged" as they are brutally ripped. :) Su manages to hold it together... to see her loose it you would have to go back to the previous year graduation. Although if you watch the full ending closely, after the rest of the girls leave the stage Su is left on stage by herself waving her final goodbye. When she turns, she looks down, and for a brief moment, you can see all of the pent up "I'm not going to let them see me cry" break loose. It had to have been a mess backstage.

Hello and greetings from Germany! Bless you for speaking out and for everything you went through! You can always think, there's nothing that will make me cry or emotional ever again, I've been through this, there is nothing more. And then when the time is right and you might not even expect it, something so sweet, kind and heartwarming enters your soul once again and makes you feel this human emotions again, that you thought were lost, but they were just sleeping inside you, waiting to be activated again. It can happen through people, music, videos or just some nice words at any time and it's wonderful that this exists in the world. I always try to carry the positive things in life to the next generation and deal with the negative things and share that as well. It's vital to humans to explore as much as they can and be in touch with themselves, because your soul needs you like a good friend in life, like what the girls are sharing. If we accept negative things as loss or anger or even hate, we can try and form them into something better or at least try to cope with it. And the beautiful things, let them be carried into the heart of another human and be happy to share it. I remember my daughter's high school graduation and that was hard also. Most parents feel this as their kids grow up and become something great. Watching these talented young ladies grow up and move on to bigger and grander careers has a similar effect on a lot of the fans. What I liked about Sakura Gakuin songs is the lyrics are so meaningful. They were told by their teachers to perform with emotions of the meaning to their songs. And in the 10th anniversary book/diary questionare of Sakura Gakuin. Su mentions Graduation Toss as her favourite song especially because it was created during her nendo's graduation year and she shares the personal feelings to the song.

In an interview Su talked about her adjustment to being the President of Sakura Gakuin. She became the counselor for the younger girls, something she had never had to do before. AKA a big sister, she is the youngest in her family. Babymetal continued even as Moa and Yui stayed with Sakura Gakuin with Moa being President and Yui as Vice President before they graduated. LVT, you are not going to make through Moa's farewell speech to Su.

The same pair also brought us 'Heart no Hoshi', which is (in my opinion), the best Sakura Gakuin song of all time. Especially the 'Rakusa Clan" version.
