The event depicted where they face to face in the movie is based on the real life called"Siege of Kerak." While the movie shows Saladin turning back, they actually confronted each other, with Baldwin IV winning the siege, which is the opposite of what the movie depicts. There are no historical records of them meeting in person, and Baldwin IV wearing a mask is also historically inaccurate. However, the movie does correctly portray the mutual respect they had for each other despite being adversaries during the Crusades.
