What is innovation in Deen?

innovation is referred to as Bid'ah (بدعة). It means introducing new practices, beliefs, or rituals into the religion that were not part of it during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions. Types of Bid'ah: Scholars generally categorize Bid'ah into two types: 1. Bid'ah Hasanah (Good Innovation): Innovations that do not contradict the principles of Islam and bring benefit, such as using modern technology for Islamic purposes (e.g., printing the Qur'an or using microphones in mosques). Example: Umar ibn Al-Khattab referred to the gathering of Muslims in Tarawih prayers during Ramadan as a "good innovation." 2. Bid'ah Dalalah (Misguided Innovation): Practices or beliefs introduced into Islam that distort or deviate from the core teachings and are considered blameworthy. Example: Adding or changing acts of worship that have no basis in the Qur'an or Sunnah. Evidence Against Bid'ah: 1. Qur'an Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:3): "This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion." This verse indicates that Islam is complete and needs no addition. 2. Hadith The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours (Islam) that is not of it, will have it rejected." (Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim) Another Hadith states: "Beware of newly invented matters, for every innovation is misguidance." (Sunan Abi Dawood, Hadith 4607)

The moment Sheikh Imran Elaha coined out that term: “salafi 1990”, most of the Sufi alfas who have always been looking for opportunities to divide the Al-us Sunnah brothers quickly grab it from his mouth and have since been using it to cause confusion and conflict! I’ve always held the opinion that there’s no such thing as ‘salafi 1990’, it’s just a plot to create division among the Muslims!

The companions asked, "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "Those who follow what I and my Companions are upon."

However, others, including Ibn Hazm and contemporary scholars like Shaykh Muhammad bin Yahya al-Husayni al-Ninowy, have questioned its authenticity, considering it weak or even fabricated. The Qur'an emphasizes the importance of unity among Muslims and warns against division; it does not explicitly mention the community splitting into a specific number of sects. Surah Al-Imran (3:103) urge believers to "hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. Brother, I will go with the Quran on this issue. Failure to unite has not benefitted us.

@@lateefsalam5007 Al-Ahzab 33:36 وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ أَمْرًا أَن يَكُونَ لَهُمُ ٱلْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْۗ وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلًا مُّبِينًا It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allāh and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.
