There is a dance in Luzon wherein the dance presents a piece of head gear and this is the Salakot dance. According to Salakot dance history it is a dance that represents the Salakot.
Salakot is a piece of head gear that made of rattan. It is usually used by the farmers to protect them from the heat of the sun. Salakot is also used to represents the Filipino because aside from the farmers it is also used by Filipinos with different status. The dance is composed of female and male dancers or all female dancers. They wear traditional Balintawak costume and use Salakot as part of their dance sometimes they used a plain Salakut but most of the time dancers choose to put decorations to the Salakot to make it more beautiful.
