I worked and lived there for 3 years during the Dohfar conflict. I was amazed to see how many wonderful changes have occurred in 40 years . The Sultan Quaboos is responsible for all of the improvements. I do miss the wonderful beeches.

I am a X RAF brat , I was working for Airwork Services during the conflict. We maintained Strikemasters ,skyvans,and choppers .It was an interesting time ,but I did not enjoy being shot at.

Beautiful city, changed since I was there. Surrounded on three sides by a high fence.Fourth side, the sea. The main gate manned by the sultan's askaris who unloaded every camel carrying firewood from the jebel. Thank god for Qaboos. Davie.
