Dude the second guy is my motto. Yeah money is great and all but if I’m just working like crazy with no work life balance then there’s no point. I would just be living to work, and people wonder why mental health is such a big topic. Although I think I wouldn’t be okay with that salary.. there needs to be some sort of a balance. Personally, I think that the balance can be more advantageous if you’re ambitious enough to work on other income streams after work hours.

5 years ago, when I graduated from Uni, I got a $14000 job in an international bank. It is a very low salary at the beginning. Normally fresh graduates just get ranges from $10000 to $18000, not include some high pay jobs. Now my salary is double, but still not high in Hong Kong. The key is that you need to jump to raise the salary.

My parents are both doctors and my mom is an obstetrician. She said that the medical student in China need 5 years of uni and 3 years of training. But the minimum requirement for a doctor in a good hospital is a master’s degree, so people have to study for another 3 years. Besides, people need time to get the license. If everything goes well, they could be a doctor at the age of 29 or 30. And if they want a decent salary, maybe they have to be an attending surgeon at least, which also requires about 10 years of work experience. So the reality of being a doctor in China is cruel, especially in Beijing and Shanghai, cuz everyone graduated from a top uni in China or the world. Until one day, you finally get a good salary and you find that you’re about to retire lol...

For all the people attacking some of these people I'm pretty sure there was some confusion on their part / Torres part. So when we say 200k we mean USD per annum package not 200k hkd a month. So that doctor girl may well have meant 70 k USD per annum for jr doctor starting salary which is like 45k HKD a month which is probably about right for 1st year junior.
