Smith you told me once, has it all, in a fun way you said. Have you changed your opinion on your top 3 of ALL not just for a particular climate but top of top 3-5 figs you’d stay with in another plandemic? Thanks Ross. God bless you, love brother.

Smith would be great just about everywhere, yeah.

Ross, what kind of flavor does this variety have? I have this in a shopping cart "think about" with another nursery.
@RossRaddiАй бұрын
It's fruity.

@@RossRaddi I know that you said that on vid. I was wondering what type of fruity flavor you detect. I'm looking for the unusual. Thanks!

Could you please share the hardiness zones when you feature a variety? It would help those in more northern climates. Thanks!
@RossRaddiАй бұрын
I don't know the absolute minimum temperature for most of the varieties. Generally, they're all hardy in 7B. Quite a few are doing well in 7A.

@@RossRaddi Thanks! I ask because I usually only get fig plants hardy to zone 6, since I overwinter in my attached, but not heated garage.

If you are in the northeast US, do you have to bury your fig trees in the fall? Is there another way to protect them through the winter? Thank you

I finally got Italian honey figs to fruit this year........either the drought made them taste like crap....or they are nothing like I was told they would taste like.....nothing compares to the taste of the Chicago hardies
@RossRaddiАй бұрын
Probably didn't ripen properly if they taste like crap. I'm a fan of Italian honey. Hardy Chicago is better for its berry flavor, but only by a small margin.

We've talked before, honestly could of been me being to impatient and not letting fully ripen ,but the inside was juicy and honey like....but tasted like arse,I don't assume drought affected it because my Celeste, brown turkey,and Chicago have all done well nd taste great,but my Olympians are on there 3rd year with no fruit yet,not sure what's up wit them other than maybe it don't produce well on new canes,they always freeze and die back,as do the rest but always prolific,especially the Chicago hardy,we don't have a lot of choices in figs in this area of tn,but I'm still learning,and these are only a fraction of what all I grow on my property,I have 10 acres and just keep planting more cuttings of stuff and growingmore ,hopefully will be my retirement u-pick spot,still haven't found the infamous goumis you've talked about on some videos, but still looking

@@Jimdandy-w8c This variety is unforgiving when dry periods happen. It damages the fruit and they don't ripen properly.
@Jimdandy-w8cАй бұрын
@@RossRaddi makes sense,and good to know,I just assumed being from their origins they wouldn't need much water,but how are the Olympians in your opinion,I hate bothering you but your the one who got me hooked on these things,and I haven't stopped buying planting and cloning more plants and varieties ,all good though and thanks for the videos and information

@@Jimdandy-w8c Olympian is an average tasting fig in dry climates. Here, it's one of the worst choices.
