Good review. For tons of people, me included, this Barlow image from the original tv mini series is the most terrific creature ever done. Its just a nightmare, and its the bigger problem with the 2004 version, and the remake that is on work right now....they worked the Barlow version from the book and it was weak, ....nothing can top this classic Reggi Nalder version of the creature.....its an never ending flow of inspiration for me like a professional illustrator.

I agree, although I poked fun of it, saying his teeth looked like a fork, the truth is...Barlow leaves a lasting impression!

@@CreatureMovieReviews I think so my friend...I hope the remake will be a good movie, if finally its released, with the dark atmosphere of the original mini series, and please, keep this Nosferatu look on Barlow.

Nalder's Barlow was visually scary and a real jump scare the first time he's seen. However, he's really reduced as a threat in the 1979 miniseries. Straker is elevated to the main villain, the TRUE Master, if you will, and Barlow is reduced to being Straker's muscle. The best part about the 2004 version is that is gave us a Barlow far closer to the book. I have a suspicion that a lot of people who maintain that the 1979 Barlow can NEVER be topped, have not read the book.

I graduated in 1988 and watched Salem's Lot at my grandparent's as a kid and it scared the living hell out of me! I've never watched a movie that spooked me as a kid like this one did and I watched a lot of horror on TV back then. Great channel and video!

I wish your channel luck brother, anyone cool enough to review this movie has my respect 🤘I have to respectfully disagree with you about Barlow's teeth though man, Barlow's based off the original Nosferatu movie from 1922, I think he's pretty horrifying myself and overall the scariest master vampire ever filmed..Do NOT waste your time watching the Return to Salem's Lot brother! It's the biggest piece of shit ever made, and yes I believe Barlow should have been in it more, great cast and soundtrack too.

One of the better Stephen King adaptations - definitely watch the mini-series and not the truncated run time they released as a film in Europe (but that one does have a little more gore). The sequel has nothing to do with it and is more of a comedy. The mini-series with Rob Lowe is decent with Barlow as a normal looking man who speaks (like in the book) unlike this hissing Nosferatu version. The upcoming film adaptation by the director of IT was filmed in my town and looks like it could be creepy.

My favorite horror film ever, and the best vampire horror film in my opinion. Dude I watched this when it came out, I was 6 years old, and it fucked me up for several years..lol and the book is King's best and among his favorite's too. And the Marsten house is a big part of the film/story and very well done, that has is pretty spooky!

I actually just finished reading this first time through last night! Chipped away at each night after finishing IT finally a few weeks ago but my fav moments 1 Matt Burke hears Danny asking for Mike to open the window and can hear his evil laugh and as much as he wants to move and help him he’s so terrified he can’t and it’s so powerful in the book! Jason movie name change. 2. Danny’s funeral. His dad has no reaction and his mom is absolutely loosing it and all of sudden the reality hits in and he starts yelling for Danny to get up and stop fu*in around your scaring daddy absolutely 💔💔 1. Best freakin Mark in the book in badass ..Barlow kills his parents and Father Cal makes his exchange and Barlow is all till we meet again young man and Mark turns and walks up to him and spits right in his face and Barlow can’t believe it just happened 🙌 sry for the huge comment lol

@@CreatureMovieReviews Oh yeah makes sense about competing with Evil Dead. I see their point. I'm so looking forward to it. I know it can never top the original but I'm intrigued nonetheless. Especially since I saw the set photos and found out that they were keeping it set in the 70s. I live in Massachusetts too and I've been to Ipswich a few times which is where most of the filming took place. It's a quiet little town out in the salt marshes by the beach. Perfect stand-in for Salem's Lot. Can't wait!!

This is quite impressive for a vampire movie i do like the manor house it looks so gothic like an ancient castle in Transylvania so the town Salem lot has dark history with and death maybe even witchcraft sure that could have happened i like the vampire special effect and makeup look so real those poor people who were bitten and turned into vampires or die didn't deserve it those people who were turned into vampires might have been ghouls which are also undead correct like in other vampire movies like how they some weapons to kill vampires like a stake a cross and hell even holy water as well to free those peoples who were bitten is to the master vampire by killing it with a stake free those who were bitten and under it control by the way happy birthday to your father.?
