Thing I don’t understand is, in recent interviews they are saying, everyone rejected our movie and so we had to go to amitabh bachan as a newcomer cos no one else was willing to do it - but here they are showing as if they chose amitabh bachan as “ideal casting” over the other actors, as if they had a choice. So which is the truth? Clearly, they love to change their story with the times to make it sound more favourable to themselves and in a way insulting amitabh bachan in the process showing that they made him the superstar that he is, otherwise he was nothing before that.

AB was the writers' first choice, but in a film, once the script is sold, it's often the producer/director who call the shots, so it's believable that they approached bigger commercial names first before accepting the writers' original choice after a discussion with them.

@@kunalsen2123 they ARE the writers, and they have been saying how they themselves went to every other big star and then eventually ended up ‘settling’ for AB. And then when they settled for AB cos he was a newcomer who was giving flop movies, no actress wanted to work with him, then they begged Jaya to work in it with him so that he will do well and she agreed. That doesn’t sound like he was a ‘first choice’ to them? But like I said, it sounds like they are changing the story to suit themselves now. Make themselves sound bigger and better than AB by putting him down and showing that they gave him a chance and made him who he is today.

Talking about these landmark writers I feel that why no one asked Salam Khan as to what happened that he has provided such a bad quality script in the form of Akayla in which they casted Bachchan with such poor script and such poor screenplay and worst casting especially keeping a Hollywood actor to speak Hindi with below average acting. Could have casted any Bollywood regular antagonist in the movie. Though Javed Akhter gave him a better script in the form of Main Azaad Hoon. Though the casting could have been better also in that movie.

Amitabh was never first choice. Story was sold to Dharminder for 10000. It remain with him for around one year but then due to some personal reason he returned and told Prakash Mehra his inability. It was Prakash mehra who then went to various actors. Raj Kumar even dev Anand kumar and Dev Anand But they refused to it was later salim Javed after watching Bombay to Goa. They recommend Amitabh Moreover let it be clear there were other writer directors who were giving hits not only this duo. They gave many flood as well Iman dharm. Aakhiri Dao. Shaan shakti etc. there were many other hits in that era without this duo. Now the it is projected that as if there was none other except Salim Javed in that era.
